Peter Abdul – Get Down With Me [Reissue/1984] LP (Dig This Way)
Heavy Nigerian boogie with a raw lo-fi feel.
Chacalon y La Nueva Crema – Grandes Éxitos 1976-1981 LP (Discos Horoscopo)
Grandes Éxitos 1976-1981 originally appeared in 1982 under the title of Éxitos, éxitos, éxitos. It gathered some of the first recordings by Chacalon y La Nueva Crema that were released on 7-inch records between 1977 and 1981. These twelve themes were written during the years of the de facto government of Francisco Morales Bermúdez. This dictatorship led Peru to an institutional and economic crisis that also affected major record labels, which opted to publish foreign musicians to insure sales. In total, twelve sobbing and heartfelt songs, interpreted in their own achorada and defiant way, consolidated Chacalon’s solo stage and won him the liking of the residents of La Parada (porters, domestic employees, interprovincial drivers) and the fervor of those marked by a cruel destiny(thieves and alcoholics without hope), who venerated him as the male version of the popular, yet uncanonized, saint Sarita Colonia.
Chandra – Transportation EPs [Reissue/1980] LP (Telephone Explosion)
While Chandra’s music can be compared to her no wave contemporaries y Pants, France’s Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Su Tissue of Suburban Lawns, or Delta 5 meets the Jackson 5, to quote critic David Ma, her lyrical fixations are truly singular. With hypnotic, chanted vocals focusing on chilling themes of mind control, multiple personalities and missing the train. Returning her debut EP to its original four-song, single-record release at a dancefloor-ready remastered 45RPM, this expanded edition adds to the second EP a pair of never released songs from her 1983 four-track cassette demos.
Daszu – Zone Of Swans/Lucid Actual + 1/2 Dativa 2xLP (Lion Productions)
An impediment to achieving a place in the post-punk pantheon – Daszu was based in Milwaukee, not in the UK. Except for cassette distributions in Helsinki and Dublin, and a few scattered performances, they lived, practiced and performed near home. In 1979, Mark Rudolph talked in his kitchen to David Wolf about an idea he had for a new music: how music could be ‘popular’ without rock guitars and a big wall sound such as large amps and organs.
The Gangsters – The Gangsters LP (Albina Music Trust)
Archive collection of previously unreleased early ‘70s Portland funk. Fostered by the Albina Art Center, a hangout spot for creatively-inclined black youth, The Gangsters were led by trumpeter Thara Memory, who wrote and arranged all of their material, and produced the sessions heard on this vinyl-only release. After gigging around the city for a few years, the group-who were almost all in their late teens-laid down some tracks at Ripcord Studios, but they disbanded soon thereafter and the tapes sat in a closet, unheard for over 40 years.
Barbara Gryfe – What The World Needs Now [Reissue/1969] LP (MajikBus Entertainment)
Former child star Barbara was only 18 years old when she recorded this slice of sunshine pop for CBC Records. What The World Needs Now was recorded at Eastern Sound Company in Toronto on May 12th and 28th, 1969. The orchestra was arranged and conducted by Rick Wilkins and the record was produced by Dave Bird. A regular performer for the CBC, Barbara had appeared on most of the CBC Networks shows and her winning song “Colours Of The Rainbow” at the CBC Song Market 1968 contest is included on this album.
Wendell Harrison – An Evening With The Devil [Reissue/1972] LP (Pure Pleasure)
One of the most classic albums on the Tribe Records label from Detroit – music that was too heavy for most of the world when it was issued in the ‘70s but which has gone onto achieve legendary status over the years. Reedman Wendell Harrison leads the group in a set of soaring, spacious, righteous tunes – with great help from Marcus Belgrave on trumpet, and assorted other instruments, which he and Harrison play in the best AACM tradition. Features some spoken passages by the Black Messengers, Oba and Vajava.
Weldon Irvine – Cosmic Vortex (Justice Divine) [Reissue/1974] LP (Pure Pleasure)
“After two visionary LPs for his own tiny Nodlew label, Weldon Irvine signed to RCA for Cosmic Vortex (Justice Divine), exploring the deeply spiritual and political terrain of his previous efforts on the kind of grand musical scale that major-label funding accommodates. This is a big, bold record by any measure, with a startlingly pronounced focus on lyrics and vocals. At the same time, however, the melodies spread out like tentacles, informed by the improvisational sensibilities of jazz and the deep-groove spirit of funk.” – AllMusic
Momo Joseph – War For Ground [Reissue/1993] LP (African Seven)
Expanded vinyl reissue of the Cameroonian artist’s 1983 album of true Afro-boogie.
Moments – On Top [Reissue/1971] LP (Be With)

about deep, harmony-drenched, string-laden soul.

Recorded in 1968 only for internal use on CBC radio stations this grail for jazz collectors is released for the first time ever 47 years on.
Panopticon – …On The Subject Of Mortality [Reissue/2011] LP (Nordvis)
Vinyl reissue of Panopticon’s third full-length. Whereas Panopticon’s other releases have been rooted heavily in a bluegrass/black metal hybrid sound… On The Subject Of Mortality is a more ambient album filled with post-metal obtuse dronescapes, Godspeed-like slow builds and blown out blast beats.
Perth County Conspiracy – Perth County Conspiracy [Reissue/1970] LP (MajikBus Entertainment)
A true legend of the psych-folk rock genre, the very first album by Canadian band Perth County Conspiracy was conceived, recorded and designed to look and sound like the product of a commercial record label. But with only 250 copies produced the record quickly reached mythic status as the band went on to begin a commercial career with Columbia Records.
Pintura Roja – Pinceladas Musicales [Reissue/1985] LP (Discos Horoscopos)
It is not an exaggeration that, 32 years after the release of Pinceladas Musicales, their second LP, the cumbia band Pintura Roja continues to be recognized as a monumental institution in the history of Peruvian music. Since it’s foundation in 1984, Pintura Roja has served as the quarry of the greatest exponents of chicha music, cultivating in the classrooms of its academy artists like Princesita Mily, considered one of the first women to integrate a chicha band, and Muñequita Sally, the disappeared queen of Andean folk, in addition to the legendary vocalist Toño Centella and the remembered Jhonny Orosco, founder of Grupo Néctar.
Thomas Ragsdale – Self Zero LP (Burning Of Witches)
Delving deep into social and political subtexts, Thomas Ragsdale bases the framework of his new album Self Zero around classified mind analysis, ritualistic cults and savage primal urges. It’s as much blissful pensiveness as it is pure trance brutality. Seductive vintage string machines, thrusting 808 drum rhythms and jugular striking ‘Penderecki’ style vocals weave in a rainstorm of serene chaos.
Lee Ranaldo – Electric Trim: Live At Rough Trade East LP (Mute)
Recorded at London’s Rough Trade East in the autumn of 2017, this album depicts an intimate solo performance, the first UK date on his extensive Electric Trim tour before Lee Ranaldo returned later that year with the Electric Trim trio. On Electric Trim, Ranaldo moves into some rich new sonic territories and production techniques, experimenting with electronic beats and
samples alongside live players.
Röyksopp – Senior [Reissue/2010] LP (Dog Triumph)

Tolly & Dara – Cutheart LP (Roundtable)
Rare solo recording from The Brian Brown Quintet bassist and Daevid Allen collaborator, David Tolley. Welcome to the strange musical world of Tolley & Dara, an experimental duo whose incredible music held a marginal yet vital position on the fringe of the Australian music industry during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Consisting of jazz bassist and synthesist David Tolley and percussionist Dure Dara, their union was a relationship of romance and intense creativity, a deep spiritual bond consecrated amidst banks of modular synthesizers and racks of exotic percussion instruments.
