Marketing Program/ Banner/ Listening Station Titles Promoted This Week:
Chvrches – Screen Violence CD/LP/Cassette (Glassnote)
Chvrches’ highly anticipated fourth studio effort, Screen Violence was recorded almost entirely remotely between Los Angeles and Glasgow with members Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook self-producing and mixing the album via video calls and audio sharing programs to create something that is unique and special, but inherently their own. Screen Violence was originally conceived as a name for the band. A decade later, and during a pandemic when the reality of screen violence has never been more pertinent, struggling to make the people you love feel more than the characters on a TV show, and experiencing a world of trauma as if it were another, Chvrches revived the term for their new album title. Narrating the theme of Screen Violence in three main forms – on screen, by screens and through screens – the album touches on feelings of loneliness, disillusionment, fear, heartbreak and regret. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]
Madi Diaz – History Of A Feeling CD/LP (ANTI-)
Rage, confusion, despair, self-deception, and introspection – Madi Diaz cycles through the full spectrum of emotions on History Of A Feeling, her new album. It’s an album that undeniably marks Diaz’s status as a first-rate songwriter, a craft she’s spent years refining, and one wherein Madi establishes herself as an artist capable of distilling profound feelings with ease. Diaz pulls from a range of folk, country, and pop leanings – she is as much influenced by Patty Griffin and Lori McKenna as she is the sonics of PJ Harvey and directness of Kathleen Hanna. On History Of A Feeling, the Nashville based songwriter comes to terms with the dissolution of a meaningful relationship. By the end of it, she wills herself into a self-reflective state where she doesn’t hate herself for being so heartbroken. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]
Tim Easton – You Really Don’t Know Me CD/LP (Black Mesa)
A mainstay of American roots music for more than 20 years, Tim Easton crafts songs that blur the lines between folk, blues, and workingman’s rock ‘n’ roll. Make no mistake, though ― Tim Easton is done running in circles. Rejuvenated by sobriety and solace, he’s moving forward with conviction, punctuating his personal music with universal messages. You Don’t Really Know Me finds him making peace with the past and focusing on the present. “Gone are the wistful, drunken wanderer tunes of the past,” he explains. “These are songs for today.” And today, Easton is feeling good.
Steve Gunn – Other You CD/2xLP+MP3 (Matador)
The sixth studio album by American singer Steve Gunn, Other You, was recorded during two visits to Los Angeles. The relocation was in a way more than geographical – the surroundings, warm climate and tight-knit studio team encouraged Gunn to tap into new approaches, techniques and emotional reservoirs, casting off established notions, habits and hang-ups. A featherlight touch coasts through the album – from the classical guitar and piano interplay and soulful baritone of the title track, nimble drum brush swing at the heart of “Fulton” and “The Painter”, slow-burn kosmische rock of “Protection”, electric piano pulses and majestic tremolo stabs of “Reflection”, to the cascading harps of “Sugar Kiss” – it is easily Gunn’s brightest and most life-affirming work to date. He is assisted by contributions come from friends and fellow artists including Juliana Barwick, Mary Lattimore, Bridget St. John, Jeff Parker, Bill MacKay, Ben Bertrand, drummer Ryan Sawyer (TV On The Radio, Thurston Moore, Gang Gang Dance), and others.
Halsey – If I Can Have Love, I Want Power CD/LP (Capitol)
“This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.” [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]
OneRepublic – Human CD (Mosley Music/Interscope)
Billions of people have listened to Beyonce’s “Halo”, Adele’s “Rumour Has It” and Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Heart”. Each of these pop hits have reached top spots in the charts. These three songs share a commonality: Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. From writing songs for other artists, producing their own hits, having numerous television and movie appearances and winning three Grammy awards, OneRepublic became a powerhouse of talent and should be the quintessential example of success in the music industry. The band’s new (fifth) album, Human, features the singles “Rescue Me”, “Somebody To Love”, “Wanted”, and “Run”. “[Human] is re-calibrating everything,” Tedder says. “The last album, we stopped promoting it and kinda pulled the plug. I didn’t have it in me to do anything for it. This is us returning to what the original sound was: strings; orchestral; emotive…” [Vinyl edition due October 1.]
Suzanne Santo – Yard Sale CD (Suzanne Santo/Soundly Music, LLC)
Suzanne Santo has never been afraid to blur the lines. A tireless creator, she’s built her sound in the grey area between Americana, Southern-gothic soul, and forward-thinking rock ‘n’ roll. It’s a sound that nods to her past – a childhood spent in the Rust Belt; a decade logged as a member of the L.A.-based duo HoneyHoney; the acclaimed solo album, Ruby Red, that launched a new phase of her career in 2017; and the world tour that took her from Greece to Glastonbury as a member of Hozier’s band – while still exploring new territory. With Yard Sale, Santo boldly moves forward, staking her claim once again as an Americana innovator. It’s an album inspired by the past, written by an artist who is only interested in the here-and-now. [Vinyl edition due November 5.]
Bob Schneider – In A Roomful Of Blood With A Sleeping Tiger CD/LP (Shockorama/Soundly Music, LLC)
Austin, Texas-based singer-songwriter and former frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, Bob Schneider has become one of the most celebrated musicians in the live music capital. Combined with his scruffy good looks and diverse musicals styles, Schneider’s talent has defied genres. Combing elements of funk, country, rock, and folk with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic, Schneider draws inspiration from the ’70s with a modern twist reminiscent of Beck. His powerful lyrics tackle tough subjects about alienation, drug addiction, and lost romance. Schneider returns with In A Roomful Of Blood With A Sleeping Tiger and the Kurt Vonnegut-inspired single “Lord Of The Flies”.
Laura Stevenson – Laura Stevenson CD (Don Giovanni)
Laura Stevenson begins her new album in a state. “I’m in a state again, but I stay polite,” she sings queasily over a nest of scraping cello strings. For an uncomfortable minute the uneasiness lingers until the song explodes into an incantation: “It keeps me alive.” It is a powerful and apt beginning for a record that finds the acclaimed singer-songwriter charting – in exacting detail – some of the most turbulent states of her life. Here she documents a crisis in real-time, “I relocated for a bit after finishing my last record, to help someone that I love very much who was going through something absolutely unthinkable,” she explains. The album follows every turn as that year unfolded, from rage to helplessness, desperation, and in its own sort of way, acceptance. “For obvious reasons, I won’t be discussing the specific nature of what happened. I left everything kind of open-ended, but I think doing that helps people relate more to the general experience of going through a crisis or helping someone else through one,” Stevenson says, a sentiment that comes through on every moment of her self-titled album. [Vinyl edition due October 29.]
Yann Tiersen – Kerber CD/LP (Mute)
Kerber is a new chapter in Yann Tiersen’s career. If Portrait was revisiting and reassessing the past, Kerber draws a line under that and looks to the future. Both a follow up to EUSA and an album unlike any Yann has made before. Kerber takes its name from a Chapel in a small village on Ouessant. Influenced by the close geographical area around him, each track is tied to a place, mapping out the direct landscape around Yann’s home. Rather than being a reflection on isolation, the record is an expression of being conscious of your own direct environment and your place within it. The album takes the solo piano themes from EUSA and marries them with electronics. The electronic samples are enhanced by the acoustic elements – it’s the reverse process to what Yann has done before. This is a piano-centered electronic album. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]

Released nearly two months after Aaliyah’s untimely death, the album was dedicated to the memory of “Babygirl”.
Timbaland & Magoo – Under Construction Part II [Reissue/2003] CD (Empire)
Under Construction Part II is the third studio album released by hip-hop duo Timbaland & Magoo. The album is the group’s third LP, and Timbaland’s fourth overall LP. Under Construction Part II is nominally a sequel to Missy Elliott’s fourth LP Under Construction, which was also chiefly produced by Timbaland. Elliott appears on the LP’s lead single, “Cop That Shit”, released to radio as “Cop That Disc”, as do regular Timbaland collaborators such as Sebastian and Bubba Sparxxx. Many other guest stars, from Brandy, who had Timbaland produce her 2004 album Afrodisiac, to Wyclef Jean and Beenie Man, also appear on the album. The song “Indian Flute” contains an uncredited sample of “Curura” by Toto la Momposina.
Kat Von D – Love Made Me Do It CD/LP (Kartel)
Gifted multi-hyphenate Kat Von D begins an electrifying new chapter in her career with the release of her debut album, Love Made Me Do It. Having been a classically trained pianist since her youth with a deep appreciation for music of all genres, Kat poured her heart and soul into the project which features collaborations with Dave Grohl, Linda Perry, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Ladyhawke and Charo. A pastiche of shapeshifting analog synths, post-punk dreamscapes, gothic hues, and shy pop magnetism, these eleven songs echo the eternal will of the perennially brokenhearted to love until death. Of the album, Kat said, “‘Love Made Me Do It’ is a collection of all my hopeless romantic thoughts poured into one album.” [An indie store exclusive gold color vinyl pressing is available.]
Additional Social Media Program Titles Released This Week:
Boris – Flood [Reissue/2000] 2xLP (Third Man)
Formed in 1992, Boris boldly explores their own vision of heavy music, where words like “explosive” and “thunderous” barely do justice. Using overpowering soundscapes embellished with copious amounts of lighting and billow smoke, Boris has shared with audiences across the planet an experience for all five senses in their concerts, earning legions of zealous fans along the way. Boris continues their bountiful output with two monumental vinyl versions of their milestone releases: 2000’s Flood and 2020’s NO on Third Man Records. Flood was originally released in Japan on CD only. Delivered in four equally important movements, Flood is simultaneously delicate, dense, undulating, devastating, emancipating, hypnotic and triumphant. On Flood, Boris broadens their vision of musical possibility, with a notable and imaginative influence from visionary American minimalist Steve Reich, weaving in prog, drone and slowcore into a multifaceted symphony. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]
Boris – NO LP (Third Man)
Hailed as Boris’s “most compelling album in more than a decade” (Pitchfork), NO was was furiously recorded in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and “surprise” released in July of 2020. Initially released digitally (with a very limited vinyl run), the album was met with immediate and widespread praise. Meant to serve as a mirror that redirects the negativity of the global lockdown to something more positive, the content on NO can be characterized as “extreme healing music.” Musically, NO draws from influential noise-heavy hardcore group Gudon, even including a cover of their song “Fundamental Error”. NO is a classic hardcore thrash record and is one of the band’s strongest efforts. [An indie store exclusive vinyl pressing is available.]
Cold Hart – Every Day Is A Day LP+MP3 (Epitaph)
Every Day Is A Day finds alt-rapper Cold Hart (co-founder of the seminal emo rap collective GothBoiClique) coming into his own as a lyricist. Working with longtime collaborator Yawns, who co-produced most of the record, Cold Hart takes his signature sound to new heights bringing his adept songwriting skills into sharper focus and expanding his palette of sonic touchstones. He wrote the album over the course of the pandemic after moving to Long Island with his wife and newborn daughter and recorded it during the particularly dreary winter. Cold Hart weaves the consequences of these shifts, whether it be coming to terms with fatherhood, learning how to drive on icy suburban roads covered in snow, or staying present through painful experiences, into the thematic patchwork of the album.

Big Red Machine – How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? CD/2xLP (Jagjaguwar)
The generous spirit and desire to push music forward has never been more deeply felt than on Big Red Machine’s How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?, the second album from Aaron Dessner’s ever-morphing project with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. In 2008, while assembling material for the charity compilation Dark Was The Night, Dessner sent Vernon a song sketch titled “big red machine”. Vernon interpreted “big red machine” as a beating heart and finished the song accordingly – a metaphor Dessner says “still sticks with me today. This project goes to many places and is always on some level about experimentation, but it shines a light on why I make music in the first place, which is an emotional need. It’s one of my therapies and one of the ways I interrogate the past.” Guests include Taylor Swift, Sharon Van Etten & Robin Pecknold, and others.

Tre Burt – You, Yeah, You CD (Oh Boy)
You, Yeah, You is a narrated collection of songs featuring a cast of invented characters; heroes, villains, those destitute of salvation, and those seeking it. The album represents a summoning of the will to fight the unknown rather than surrender to fear and fatigue. Like his late label mate and songwriting hero John Prine, Burt showcases his poet’s eye for detail, surgeon’s sense of narrative precision, and his songwriters’ ability to transpose observation into affecting verse. [Vinyl edition due November 19.]

Comet Control – Inside The Sun CD/LP (RT Label Group LLC)
Formed in Toronto in 2013 after the breakup of Chad Ross and Andrew Moszynski’s acclaimed outsider outfit, Quest For Fire, Comet Control require little introduction to anyone well-versed in the realms of contemporary psych. After hashing out ideas for a new record following a European tour with Earthless in 2018, Ross and Moszynski escaped down the rabbit hole of their own Palace Sound Studio to write and record new material which comprises the band’s third studio album, Inside The Sun.
Andrew Cyrille Quintet – News CD (ECM)
The new album from the quartet led by innovative jazz drummer Andrew Cyrille carries the story forward from the 2016 release, The Declaration Of Musical Independence. Each of the players (Bill Frisell, Ben Street and David Virelles) has space for improvisational expression, but it is Cyrille’s communicative sensibility and what the New York Times called his “watchful, flowing pulse that guides the band.”
Danko Jones – Power Trio CD (Sonic Unyon Metal)
During the worst pandemic of modern times, the hard rock band around the eloquent eponym releases its tenth studio album, Power Trio. Nomen est omen. For the pithy title not only sets the marching direction of the eleven songs, it also simultaneously celebrates the 25th anniversary of an uncompromising band that for a quarter of a century has placed as little value on trends and fashions as Motörhead and AC/DC. Danko Jones are also like a registered trademark, style and sound immediately recognizable. [Vinyl edition due September 24.]

Composer/saxophonist Kenny Garrett emerged as a distinctive voice on the national scene in 1978 with an undisputed aptitude for emotive melodic phrasing that led him to collaborations with Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Art Blakey and Miles Davis. With Sounds From The Ancestors, Garrett remembers the spirit of the sounds of African ancestors from church services, recited prayers, songs from the work fields, Yoruban chants and African drums, alongside tributes to Roy Hargrove and two drum pioneers – Art Blakey and Tony Allen – who all looked into the past to influence the future sound and evolution of jazz.
Bendik Giske – Cracks CD/LP (Smalltown Supertown)
The body is important for Giske, even more so than as an acoustic musician. Not just in the strength and muscle control required to accomplish circular breathing on the saxophone, the unusual technique he employs to mesmerizing effect. It’s also reflected in the tradition of dance he practiced as a child in Bali – where he split his time between Oslo with his artist parents – and enjoyed as part of an electronic music epiphany in his adopted hometown of Berlin. And body is implied in his sense of queerness, which has helped him create his own sound, blossoming luxuriantly not only on record but also in his striking, embodied performances.
The Grascals – Up All Night CD (Mountain Home)
Though the collection is new, the sextet’s followers will find familiar touchstones in four previously released hit singles that bookend the set: the nostalgic recollection of “Sleepy Little Town”, sentimental favorites “Flowers And Lace” and “Thankful”, and the bluegrass gospel classic “Traveling The Highway Home”. In between, listeners will find another eight songs that fill in the portrait of a group at the height of their powers, blending soulful ballads, energetic traditional bluegrass, gospel songs and an outlook that centers on family, faith and the old home place.
Grayscale – Umbra CD (Fontana North)
In a celestial sense, Umbra is the area of complete darkness in an eclipse. It’s a shadowy interior that would otherwise be surrounded by light. The sound of the record is pop/rock on the outside, but when you listen to the lyrics, the stories on the inner core are sexual, vindictive, and wicked. That’s the concept. It reflects the authenticity of who Grayscale is as an East Coast rock band. [Vinyl edition due February 4.]
Hooded Menace – The Tritonus Bell CD (Season Of Mist)
Hooded Menace was formed by Lasse (also known from the cult Finnish death metal band Phlegethon and death/grinders Vacant Coffin) in the summer of 2007. Cut to nearly 15 years later and Hooded Menace are still spreading their music to fans of totally heavy and ultra-crushing doom and old school early ‘90s style death metal. With their sixth album The Tritonus Bell, the Finns continue to impress with immaculate songwriting skills and the perfect balance between harsh death metal fueled outbursts, and exquisite melodic melancholy. [Vinyl edition due October 22.]
Hour Of 13 – Black Magick Rites CD/LP (Shadow Kingdom)
Black Magick Rites is Hour Of 13’s first full-length offering in over eight years. It also marks the first Hour Of 13 album where he handles not only all instruments, but also all vocals. Indeed, Chad Davis’ vocals evoke an ancient nostalgia, of doom metal before it was “doom metal” – of the days when bands like Black Sabbath, Pagan Altar, and Witchfinder General simply followed their respective muses wherever it took them. And for Davis, Black Magick Rites sees him taking his Hour Of 13 muse toward a rougher, more rock ‘n’ roll expression and yet tinged with an emotive melancholy that resonates deeply within the soul.
Indigo De Souza – Any Shape You Take CD/LP/Cassette (Saddle Creek)
“Everything has to be said.” This is the conviction guiding Indigo De Souza’s sophomore album, Any Shape You Take. This dynamic record successfully creates a container for the full spectrum – pushing through and against every emotion: “I wanted this album to give a feeling of shifting with and embracing change. These songs came from a turbulent time when I was coming to self-love through many existential crises and shifts in perspective.” Faithful to its name, Any Shape You Take changes form to match the tenor of each story it tells. “The album title is a nod to the many shapes I take musically. I don’t feel that I fully embody any particular genre – all of the music just comes from the universe that is my ever-shifting brain/heart/world,” says Indigo. [A limited-edition color vinyl pressing is also available.]

Low Flying Hawks offer a refined musical vision of their trademark mélange, which might be tentatively called doomgaze with a measure of stoner rock, a knife-tip of sludge, and a healthy pinch of drone. Throughout the band’s existence, this core duo has been supported by a renowned rhythm section in the form of Melvins drummer Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn from Mr. Bungle on bass. [Two limited-edition color vinyl pressings are available.]
Megadeth – Unplugged In Boston CD/LP (Purple Pyramid)

[The CD+DVD edition is due September 10.]
Midwife – Luminol CD/Cassette (The Flenser)
CD edition now available. Midwife is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist Madeline Johnston. She lives and works in San Miguel, New Mexico by way of Denver, Colorado, where she spent the better half of the past decade developing her experimental pop project. As a self-taught guitarist and recording engineer, Midwife explores dark subject matter in her anthemic, soft-gaze hits. Self-described as “heaven metal’, or emotive music about devastation – catharsis. Luminol navigates themes of incarceration, locus of control, clarity, self-harm, confinement, agency, and truth-seeking, all erupting in a bioluminescent Rothko color-field of blue.
Modern Rites – Monuments CD/LP (Debemur Morti Productions)
Modern Rites is a new industrial-rooted, melodic black metal duo formed by guitarist Berg of Swiss atmospheric black metal band Aara and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/visual artist Jonny Warren of US experimental metal band Kuyashii. The core of Modern Rites is Jonny’s heavily distorted bass sound inspired by dark Industrial music of the early ’90s: the diverging, stereo bass-paths create a desolate landscape in which Berg’s guitars open portals into dark atmospheres with crushing riffs, anthemic tremolo leads and diverse textural work. [A limited-edition silver color vinyl pressing is also available.]

The Neal Morse Band – Innocence & Danger CD/CD+DVD (Inside Out U.S.)
With NMB’s previous two releases being concept albums, it’s perhaps remarkable that Innocence & Danger is a series of unrelated songs, but drummer Mike Portnoy says “After two sprawling back-to-back double concept albums in a row, it was refreshing to get back to writing a collection of unrelated individual songs in the vein of our first album.” [Vinyl edition due September 17.]

Phinehas – Fire Itself CD (Solid State)
Fifth album from the California metalcore band.

Jason Sharp – The Turning Centre Of A Still World CD/LP+MP3 (Constellation)
Electroacoustic composer and saxophonist Jason Sharp presents his third album on Constellation and first purely solo recording. Following two acclaimed albums composed around particular collaborators and guest players, Sharp conceived The Turning Centre Of A Still World as an interplay strictly bounded by his own body, his acoustic instrument, and his bespoke electronic rig. The result is Sharp’s most lucid, poignant, integral work to date – a singular sonic exploration of human/machine calibration, interaction, expression and biofeedback.
Southern Avenue – Be The Love You Want CD/LP (BMG)
Memphis soul powerhouse Southern Avenue release their third full-length album.
Space Afrika – Honest Labour CD/LP (Dais)
Manchester UK’s Space Afrika make music of what they term overlapping moments – oblique mosaics of dialogue, rhythm, texture, and shadow, half-heard through a bus window on a rainy night. Honest Labour, the group’s first full-length since 2020’s landmark hybtwibt? (have you been through what i’ve been through?) mixtape, expands the project’s palette with classical strings, shimmering guitar, and visionary vocal cameos, leaning further into their enigmatic fusion of ambient unrest and cosmic downtempo.
The Spinners – ‘Round The Block And Back Again CD (Peak)
Melding intricate harmonies with breathtaking vocal acrobatics, ‘Round The Block And Back Again shows The Spinners at their soulful, multi-octave best. Timely yet timeless, the album is a triumphant return. From the classic jazz of “Show Me Your Heart” to the very relevant ode to love in the age of COVID, “Missing Your Embrace”.
Supergrass – In It For The Money [Reissue/1997] 3xCD/3xLP (Echo Label Limited)

Teenage Bottlerocket – Sick Sesh! CD (Fat Wreck Chords)
Recorded in November 2020 at the Blasting Room (the band’s eighth straight full-length with producer Andrew Berlin), Sick Sesh! is a little bit rougher around the edges than the last few Teenage Bottlerocket albums, from the haunting “Statistic” to the panic-inducing “Strung Out On Stress” to the buzzsaw lead of “Semi Truck.” [Vinyl edition due November 12.]
TesseracT – Portals 2xCD/3xLP (Kscope)
Following on from 2018’s critically acclaimed studio album, Sonder, TesseracT, during a global pandemic decided to come together to present Portals – a cinematic live experience like no other. The band took livestreams to a new level by interspersing a conceptual storyline with their live performances that featured a colossal and highly spectacular arena-style light show. TesseracT is a band that sit outside the bounds of any genre specificity, pioneers of the ever-evolving rock and metal scene, with an unstoppable force of off-kilter riffs, soaring melodies and disorientating atmospherics. They put all of this into the December 2020 event that featured the band performing songs spanning their entire catalogue. [A stand-alone Blu-ray edition is also available.]
Thief – 16 Deaths Of My Master CD/2xLP (Prophecy)
Thief has already gained cult status among the initiated, which might be taken quite literally considering that the backbone of their sound has been formed by manipulated sacred chant and choral samples. Although the project of L.A. multi-instrumentalist Dylan Neal continues along this path, his third album The 16 Deaths Of My Master surprises with a much heavier use of original instrumentation such as strings, organ, harpsichord, bass, guitar, and other hardware synths. [A limited-edition blue color vinyl pressing is also available.]
th1rt3En [Pharoahe Monch] – A Magnificent Day For An Exorcism CD/LP (Fat Beats)
Now available on CD. th1rt3en is what you would get if Led Zeppelin and Kendrick Lamar had a baby and raised it in Jamaica, Queens. The gritty production coupled with live instrumentation and exquisite lyricism creates a unique yet familiar sound that has been tried before but hasn’t ever reached this level of artistry.
Thyrfing – Vanagandr CD/LP (Despotz)
Leaning heavily on their ever-present connection with Norse mythology, Vanagandr is a celebration of the tales and stories of Scandinavia. Thyrfing emerged from the ever-growing underground scene in Sweden back in 1995 and are considered one of the top bands within the so-called Viking/pagan metal genre. [A limited-edition black & grey color vinyl pressing is available.]

An artist whose everywoman candor and knock-you-down vocal range has reverberated across the globe, Therapy is a collection of songs that embody A-M’s characterful artistry, self-effacing attitude and beautiful honesty; attributes that have not only catapulted Essex-born artist to platinum status in the UK to the USA and everywhere in-between, but ones that have seen her reign supreme a fearless Gen Z role model.

Bleachers – led by five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, Jack Antonoff – follow-up 2017’s critically acclaimed Gone Now with their third studio album, Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night. “Stop Making This Hurt” is the first single and third offering from the record issued on the heels of “Chinatown” featuring Bruce Springsteen and “45” which were met with critical praise in late 2020. The New York Times hailed Bleachers’ new music as “anthemic life-affirming pop-rock.”
Boogie Belgique – Volta LP (Cold Busted)
Nostalgic, soulful and, of course, boogie-woogie. That’s how Belgian DJ producer Boogie Belgique (AKA Oswald Cromheecke) describes the enticing combination of styles and sources from different decades that make up his music. Taking vintage inspirations, most notably from swing and jazz eras, and merging them with contemporary beats and textures is the young producer’s forte. This is pleasingly evident on Volta.
Pi’erre Bourne – The Life Of Pi’erre 5 2xLP (Interscope)
Clear vinyl pressing. The Life of Pi’erre 5 includes features from longtime collaborator, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Sharc. The momentum he’s built over the years continues with a spot at Rolling Loud Miami this summer and a European tour in the fall. As Pi’erre continues to expand his scope, unwilling to settle into any defined role, it’s hard to imagine the young star stopping any time soon.
Boy Golden – Church Of Better Daze LP (Six Shooter)

Cannabis Corpse – From Wisdom To Baked [Reissue/2014] LP (Season Of Mist)

Joe Cardamone – Quarentina LP (Sonic Ritual)
Joe Cardamone (formerly of The Icarus Line) returns with his second solo offering: the soundtrack to his film series Quarentina. Recorded in a flurry of home studio sessions with tracks dubbed in one or two takes just to grab the moment, not think, and keep flying, Quarentina, was completed in a matter of a week. An exercise in immediacy and minimalism, the album is sparing with its instrumentation but not it’s intimacy. Quarentina is the most stripped down, raw and vulnerable Joe has ever sounded on a record.
The Celibate Rifles – Extract From The Fungus LP (Bang)

Guy Clark – Somedays The Song Writes You [Reissue/2009] LP (Dualtone Music Group)
First-time vinyl pressing. Artists like Rodney Crowell and Steve Earle studied under the watchful eye of Clark during their early years. Like friend Townes Van Zandt before him, Clark is a master storyteller, a dream weaver blessed with the ability to match ear-catching melodies with poetic lyrics that aim for the deepest part of the listener’s soul. Somedays The Song Writes You, Clark’s eleventh studio album, is a well-crafted collection of compositions that rank among some of his best. Clark’s tobacco-and- whiskey-stained voice has never sounded better.

Cultus Profano – Accursed Possession LP (Debemur Morti Productions)
Limited color vinyl pressing. 2020’s Accursed Possession, the second album from unholy duo Cultus Profano, is perfectly cold and evil old-school black metal. Simultaneously starker and more atmospheric than 2018 debut Sacramentum Obscurus, the band achieve malefic transcendence without the need for superficial adornments, through a stripped-back, pitch-black palette of elemental guitars, mesmeric percussion and vocal invocations of burning venom.
Jesse Daniel – Beyond These Walls CD (Jesse Daniel)

Death Valley Girls – Glow In The Dark [Reissue/2016] LP (Suicide Squeeze)
Neon green & red with black splatter color vinyl. Death Valley Girls’ sophomore album Glow in the Dark is a white-hot distillation of their sound and spirit – a jittery and jubilant joyride of barnburner guitar riffage, goosebump-inducing choral hooks, and pounding rhythms.
Bill Evans – Trio 64 [Reissue/1964] LP (Verve)
This is Bill Evans’ first trio date under his own name for Verve, and the deep communication he maintains throughout with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian, two brilliant rhythm players, is sublime. Bill uses the spaces between phrases in a way that broadens and deepens the emotional content.

Peter Hammill – In Translation (Fie)
Recently released on CD – now available on limited edition color vinyl. For the first time ever, Peter has recorded a collection of covers. The songs come from a variety of musical worlds: classical, American Songbook, Italian pop and tango. In all but three cases, Peter has translated the songs from Italian, French and German. As strange a project as this might seem, there’s an overall sense of cohesiveness to it and it’s absolutely of this time. Two songs have lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein; the music for one is by Jerome Kern, the other by Richard Rodgers. Leiber and Stoller provided lyrics for I who have nothing’, originally an Italian tune.
Jesu – Heart Ache (Deluxe Remaster) [Reissue/2004] 2xLP (Avalanche Recordings)
Justin K Broadrick initiated the Jesu project in 2003, which has gone on to be as critically acclaimed and beloved as his previous project Godflesh. Jesu is credited as being at the forefront if not the very beginning of the post-metal movement and the hybrid of metal and shoegaze, exploring melancholy through heaviosity, electronica and shoegaze. Heart Ache (Deluxe Remaster) presents the original LP remastered and coupled with a bonus LP containing a rare performance of “Ruined” live with guest appearances from Aaron Turner (ISIS, Sumac) on guitar, Roderic Mounir (Knut) on drums, featuring Diarmuid Dalton on bass, and a Closure remix of Ruined. Mega Bog – Life, And Another LP (Paradise Of Bachelors)
On Life, And Another, Mega Bog (the world-inhabiting moniker of song-animator Erin Birgy) tends a succulent garden full of plants that the unwitting passerby might mistakenly perceive as extraterrestrial, but which are in fact very much of this Earth. Departing from the humid Holodeck spider plant nursery of previous record Dolphine (2019), Mega Bog’s new album brings us back to our home planet, into the rarefied air pressure of a dried-up desert valley where it’s fourteen songs were written and scattered like stones in the landscape.
Donna Missal – Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A LP (Harvest)
Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A features artists’ one-take performances, recorded direct to vinyl at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Of her session, Donna says, “I got to a point in writing the album that I had said everything I wanted to say about someone else f**king up. I wanted to talk about the role I played in letting something consume me and burn me down. In ‘Let You Let Me Down’, I’m addressing that I need to change too, so I don’t rebuild myself the same way but come back from it stronger and better.”
The Moving Pictures – Fake Books LP (K. Records)
Fake Books finds The Moving Pictures four years after their debut album with three less members and eight new songs. The long-anticipated LP from a group not known for a continuity of sound might surprise new listeners with its congruity and coherence in their most traditional rock ‘n’ roll output yet. Traditional in the sense of an exacting guitar tone as the ultimate guide. Traditional in that this iteration of The Moving Pictures consists only of one person, in this case a poet and his guitar. Through this lens we watch a reel of familiar concepts- flowers, books, loneliness- repeat themselves reverberated through the artist’s singular voice.
Ne Obliviscaris – Urn [Reissue/2017] 2xLP (Season Of Mist)
Limited color vinyl pressing. Ne Obliviscaris’ third album, 2017’s Urn was a career defining moment. The Australian extreme prog shooting stars honed and re- balanced the key elements of their unique sound to a razor-sharp musical edge. The dynamic entwining of fierce growls and emotive clean vocals, the contrast between devastating and intricate guitar riffs, and thundering drums against an unleashed violin and gorgeous string parts as well as the perfect blending of epic progressive and intense extreme metal forms of expression are all marking a new peak in the steep rise of the band.

Papi Churro – El Clasico LP (We Run This)
It all started in 2020 when producer The Breed and guitarist Richard Holzmann decided to start their own project called Papi Curro. The two German musicians came up with a unique combination of Latin-folk and hip-hop sounds; almost like a lo-fi beat version of João Gilberto or Carlos Jobim.
Pardoner – Came Down Different LP/Cassette (Bar/None)
Came Down Different‘s loose guitars, walls of feedback, and pummeling hardcore combine with genuine pop hooks for a visceral sound not unlike a trip to the dentist’s office and a Novocain high, serving as a full circle testament to Pardoner’s staying power.

The Pentangle – Pentangling [Reissue/1973] LP (Renaissance)

Cruel Sister was the most folk-based of the albums recorded by the band, with all the tracks being versions of traditional songs. Whereas their previous album had been produced by Shel Talmy, and featured quite a heavily produced, commercial sound, Cruel Sister was produced by Bill Leader, noted for his recordings of folk musicians.
Pole – Tanzboden 12” (Mute)
Tanzboden follows legendary Berlin-based producer and DJ Pole’s recent album Fading, a continuing exploration of memory and loss through his signature minimal dub sound. As with every new Pole record, it’s part of a continued forward trajectory but it also connects to a pre-existing sonic framework.
The Poppermost – Hits To Spare LP (Think Like A Key)
Short, sweet and exactly as they used to make ’em, Hits To Spare does exactly what it says on the cover. A collection of simple, uplifting pop songs with a positive message is exactly what Glaswegian multi-instrumentalist Joe Kane, working as The Poppermost, accomplishes on this fab debut record. The Poppermost exist to remind us of a time when the world shook to the giddy monophonic thunk of Merseybeat, to a time of Dansettes and desert boots, when R&B didn’t mean Rhianna and Beyonce and an MP3 was Harold Wilson and a couple of his Westminster mates out on the razz down Carnaby Street.
Quinn XXCI – Change Of Scenery II LP (Columbia)
New album from the hip-hop/pop singer, songwriter, and rapper.
Rico Nasty – Nightmare Vacation LP (Atlantic)
Debut album from the punk rap rage queen and trendsetter. As written by Pitchfork, Nightmare Vacation “bursts with potential, and while not all of it is realized, the moments that click signal that Rico is an artist with a strong gut, confidently expanding the boundaries of her craft…” Where her previous project Nasty brought Rico’s hard edges into sharper focus, Nightmare Vacation reshapes them, experimenting with cadence and tone in playful and exciting ways. Rico has mastered aggression but shirks formulas and predictability, stretching out the spectrum of anger and blending it with humor, bravado, and brattiness.

She’s also written string arrangements for albums by Refrigerator, John Davis, the Renderers, Dennis Callaci, L. Eugene Methe, Justin Townes Earle, and Anna McClellan. Snazzback – In The Place LP (Worm Discs)
Bristol seven-piece Snazzback bring the sound of reopened dancefloors, of communal release, and of the joyful sound of dancing outside in the sunshine to live music. Their second album In The Place overflows with deep grooves and loose, lolloping rhythms that tease and play, sometimes languid and carefree, other times energy spiraling upwards – and taking the listener with them, each and every time. Their music is soaked in great black American dancefloor music, whether that’s the sound we call jazz or hip-hop. They also bring other flavors – interlocking Afro-Latin rhythms, electronica and hypnotic rock, all marinated in Bristol’s long musical histories.

Year Of No Light – Tocsin [Reissue/2013] 2xLP (Pelagic)
Year Of No Light – Vampyr [Reissue/2013] 2xLP (Palagic)
Year Of No Light’s lengthy, sprawling compositions of towering walls of guitars and somber synths irradiate a sense of dire solemnity and spiritual gravity, and couldn’t be a more fitting soundtrack for such grim medieval scenarios. But there is also the element of absolution, regeneration, elevation, transcendence in the face of death. It comes as no surprise that ever since the beginning of their career, the band have had an obsession for the fall of man and salvation through darkness. With their debut album Nord (2006) and sophomore release Ausserwelt (2010), Year Of No Light made a name for themselves in the European avant-metal scene.

Cassettes:
Chvrches – Screen Violence (Glassnote)
Indigo De Souza – Any Shape You Take (Saddle Creek)
Pardoner – Came Down Different (Bar/None)
Came Down Different‘s loose guitars, walls of feedback, and pummeling hardcore combine with genuine pop hooks for a visceral sound not unlike a trip to the dentist’s office and a Novocain high, serving as a full circle testament to Pardoner’s staying power.
Spice Girls – Wannabe 25 (Virgin)
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Spice Girls debut single “Wannabe”, this four-song EP includes the original single and an in-demand remix by Junior Vasquez (originally a bonus track on the 1996 2 Become 1 CD single), and “Feed Your Love”, a ballad written by Spice Girls and “Wannabe” co-writers Richard ‘Biff’ Stannard and Matt Rowe, recorded for the album Spice but previously unreleased.
