Gracie Abrams – The Secret Of Us CD/LP (Interscope)
Gracie Abrams returns with her sophomore album, The Secret Of Us. This is Gracie’s most expansive body of work both sonically and narratively. Coming off the heels of her hugely successful debut Good Riddance, Gracie shows us how much she has accomplished in one short year. Gracie’s growth as a songwriter and vocalist is showcased in her most extroverted album yet, as she continues to work with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner. A portion of these songs were also written with Gracie’s best friend, Audrey Hobert. This album was written with the urgency with which you run home to detail every moment of a night to your friend, with her live experiences over the past year having deeply shaped the identity of this album. [A yellow color vinyl pressing is available.]
Kehlani – Crash CD/LP (Atlantic)
In Kehlani’s words: “A crash, in any form, is the peak height of the moment. It isn’t the anxiety of the before, or the lament after. It is the ever so imperative present. A space with no reminisce, no remorse, and no afterthought. CRASH IS HERE. At my most free, most fun, most loud, most fueled, so far.” [Multiple vinyl colorways are available, including indie store exclusive blue.]

[An indie store exclusive translucent light blue vinyl colorway is available.]
Jim Lauderdale – My Favorite Place CD/LP (Sky Crunch)
Jim Lauderdale is the Grammy Award Winning Singer, Songwriter and Performer known as one of Americana’s most steadfast champions. “The title of Jim Lauderdale’s new album is just right. On My Favorite Place, his 37th album, the ambassador of Americana has settled into his musical comfort zones: western swing, rockabilly, country weepers, bluegrass rambles, and folk ballads. He’s enjoying himself, too, crooning in his unmistakable voice, following the music where it takes him, and inviting listeners along for the ride.” – Henry Carrigan, No Depression
Pond – Stung! CD/LP (Spinning Top)
Pond is one of the most versatile, inquisitive, and accomplished bands of the psychedelic rock vanguard. Stung! delivers some of Pond’s most glorious rock songs ever and some of their least rock moments, all psychedelic drapery or funk vim. In that epic, as in Stung! at large, Allbrook speaks to our collective modern paradox of being disappointed in or even disconsolate over a world that we know more about than any prior generation but also being in awe of it and (sometimes) each other, too. There are so many reasons to cry and so many reasons to marvel. Can’t they all, Pond suggests with Stung!, be reasons to sing? [An indie store exclusive “bee” splatter color vinyl pressing is available.]
Rich Ruth – Water Still Flows CD/LP (Third Man)
Rich Ruth, the recording project of Nashville multi-instrumentalist Michael Ruth, makes wholly immersive instrumental songs that thread the line between gleefully adventurous and calmingly meditative. His music starts in solitude with mesmerizing loops and drones anchoring the arrangements that are eventually colored in by an eclectic cast of collaborators. The resulting exploratory compositions, which combine spiritual jazz, synth-infused post-rock, and cosmic ambient, often beguile but they always soar with a palpable immediacy. His new album Water Still Flows is both his heaviest and his most cathartic. Across seven songs, the LP is both a document of an artist stretching the limits of his process and a testament to how songwriting can be a personally grounding force. [An indie store exclusive maroon vinyl colorway is available.]

Camerata Mediolanense is hard to categorize. With the sixth studio album Atalanta Fugiens (“Atalanta Fleeing”), Camerata Mediolanense return to what might be dubbed their ‘classic style’, which means a strong set of percussion from the rhythm section with light touches of the keyboards achieving a perfect balance with the soaring melodies performed by sopranos in the lead as well as harmonious choirs. [A purple color vinyl pressing is available.]
Cavalera – Schizophrenia CD/LP (Nuclear Blast)
After the extremely well received re-recordings of the first two Sepultura releases (Bestial Devastation (1985), Morbid Visions (1986), founding brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera now also re-recorded their 1987 landmark album Schizophrenia. An all-time classic that was just lacking a proper production. Arthur Rizk (Soulfly, Kreator) gave these newly recorded songs the punch and atmosphere that they needed, making Schizophrenia an album to be revisited and not to be missed in 2024. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available, including curacao.]
A Country Western – A Life On The Lawn CD/LP (Crafted Sounds)
A Country Western’s latest record, Life On The Lawn, showcases the band’s evolution with a blend of louder guitars, playful feedback, and centered vocals, interwoven with sparser moments that have long captivated their audience. Whether they are standing tall on anthemic single “The Dreamer” or rocking back into an on-brand, guitar-layered performance in “Ridgeline”, A Country Western is doing it their own way, and shamelessly displaying their full range of sonic capabilities over 10 new tracks.

[Multiple vinyl colorways are available, including white and indie store exclusive transparent blue.]
Daniel Davies – Ghost Of The Heart CD/LP (Sacred Bones)
In the last decade, Daniel Davies has become a lauded composer of atmospheric, synth-heavy instrumental music-for film and TV scores, alongside John Carpenter on the director’s Lost Themes albums, and on solo releases like Signals And Spies. But in his previous musical life, Davies was a rocker, touring all over the world with heavy bands like Year Long Disaster and Karma To Burn. After setting rock music aside to focus on his soundtrack and instrumental work, the multi-instrumentalist has found himself falling back in love with loud guitars over the past couple of years. Ghost Of The Heart, the first full-length alt-rock album Davies has ever released under his own name, captures the excitement of that rediscovered love. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available.]

Greenleaf – The Head & The Habit CD/LP (Magnetic Eye)
With their ninth full-length The Head & The Habit, Swedish heavy rockers Greenleaf have reached the pinnacle of a long evolution. The musical handwriting and well-honed mastery of guitarist Tommi Holappa, who has been a pioneer and pillar of the European stoner rock scene for more than 25 years, shines clearly through. Apart from world-class vocal lines and massive riffs with electric fuzz-power, Greenleaf have put extra thought into the themes of The Head & The Habit, which lift its lyrics far above much of the often-cliché-ridden genre. [Multiple colorways are available on vinyl.]

[An indie store exclusive cobalt blue color vinyl pressing is available.]
Horseburner – Voice Of Storms CD/LP (Blues Funeral)
Horseburner blasted onto the scene amid comparisons to Mastodon and Baroness, with an iteration of high-energy sludge metal that sprung from their Appalachian industrial background and elevated conceptual themes. Gear-shifting from hard-charging to restrained to urgent and angular, they distinguish themselves from their stoner-psych contemporaries with staggering musicianship, deploying endless musical flexes that a lot of bands just don’t have in their bags. Voice Of Storms is a sludge-prog triumph of soaring, obliterating mini-epics that goes places a lot of heavy rock doesn’t. Like a more brutal Torche or a more adept High On Fire, Horseburner grab you by the throat and submerge you in blistering tempos, fearless hooks and burly crush, always pushing forward and blazing into new sonic territory.
Islands – What Occurs CD/LP (Elf)
What Occurs is Islands’ 10th album. It was recorded, mixed and mastered entirely on Vancouver Island, the birthplace of Islands’ songwriter Nick Thorburn and his first record made on the island. The album functions like a collection of short stories, each song telling a different tale: A man steals a billionaire’s painting, (“David Geffen’s Jackson Pollock”), a woman is terrified of intimacy but great at dancing (“Arachnophobia”), and a lovelorn loser does everything wrong (“Drown A Fish”). [A gold color vinyl pressing is available.]

The Joy – The Joy CD/LP (Transgressive)
The Joy grew up on Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but their harmonies harken back to another vocal tradition. Mbube meaning ‘lion’, gives some indication of the elemental power its practitioners summon when bursting into song. In this part of South Africa, where the Zulu tradition of a cappella singing is central to the cultural identity of its people, you’ll have to transcend the sum of your constituent parts to truly command attention. But singing together as teenage boys for the first time, Pastor (Ntokozo Bright Magcaba), Duzie (Melokuhle Mkhungo), Guduza (Sphelele Hlophe), Sthombe (Phelelani Sithole) and Marcus (Sanele Ngcobo) have no reason to pause and consider that. Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson pronounce themselves fans, the latter calling them “my favorite group”.

The legendary release by Ronnie April’s Positive Energy, pressed by Ronnie on his own Jude imprint and distributed only locally by him without success, leading to the disappearance of all but a few copies. “Snowflake” has been a stable of the jazz-dance scene for years and the track was even bootlegged at one point. Les Savy Fav – Root For Ruin [2010] LP (French Kiss)
Blue colorway. Les Savy Fav have been underground indie-rock darlings for forever. The Bandwagon made their first recording as a trio with Facing Left in 2000 and has been the foundation of many Moran’s artistic statements since. On his 2010 album Ten, Moran celebrated the 10th anniversary of The Bandwagon with an assured album that was a snapshot of a mature band with a decade of shared musical experience from which to draw. Their music draws its greatest influence from their shared favorite, Steely Dan, particularly the sound of the late 1970s, around Aja and Gaucho. It happens at times that a stone-cold classic from a bygone era gets rediscovered. But how often does that rediscovery happen when the band is still around? And how often does it lead to a new album? That’s the surprising circumstance behind the Staples Jr. Singers’ long-awaited second album, Searching. You likely know the Staples Jr. Singers-the family band from Aberdeen, Mississippi-from their first and only record, 1975’s When Do We Gate Paid.
