Signed to Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records, ALO harvest a organic, jam-fueled musical celebration. They can erase a bad day with melodies saturated in sunshine, which probably is carried over from recording their latest album in the golden state of Hawaii. Need a little love and sashaying on a Wednesday night? ALO plays tonight at SLO Brew with opener Nathan Moore kicking things off 8:00pm. The show is 21 & over.
CONCERT: Jackie Greene at SLO Brew on Thursday, February 10th!
Jackie Greene has built his reputation on pure talent. He was discovered at an open-mic night where he was signed to his first label, which launched him into touring nationally with heavyweight musicians like Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Susan Tedeschi and Buddy Guy. And while Bob Dylan comparisons continue to roll in, Greene has grown into his own skin, delivering lyrical magic with a serious guitar hand. He comes to town tomorrow, Thursday February 10th. The show is 21 & over with opener Honeymoon at 8pm.
Jackie Greene has been hailed as the new boy wonder of the Americana/roots rock scene since he released his first album in 2002, but he’s clearly aiming for a bigger stage nearly a decade into his recording career, and on Till the Light Comes, Greene sounds a great deal more comfortable with the pop side of his musical formula than he has in the past — which is not to suggest that Greene’s made some deal with the music biz devil on this set; Till the Light Comes still sounds heartfelt and organic and the songs remain literate and well-crafted, but Greene and producer Tim Bluhm allow the hooks in the melodies to step to the forefront, with a lighter touch and a breezier approach that suits these tunes quite well.
