Courtney Marie Andrews – On My Page [Reissue/2013] CD/LP (House Arrest)
Courtney Marie Andrews’ predecessor to the highly successful Honest Life (2016) is back in-print on CD and available on vinyl for the first time. For a decade or so Courtney was a session and backup singer and guitarist for nearly 40 artists – from Jimmy Eat World to Damien Jurado – but she never stopped writing her own material. Picking up admirers like Ryan Adams (who called her “a phenomenal songwriter”) along the way, she quietly earned a reputation as a songwriter’s songwriter.
Arcturus – Sideshow Symphonies [Reissue/2005] CD+DVD (Season Of Mist)
Originally thought of as a black metal super group, Arcturus is one of the world’s premiere progressive metal bands. Their fourth album, 2005’s Sideshow Symphonies, has been remastered, and paired with the long out-of-print Shipwrecked In Oslo DVD (a professionally recorded live show from September 2005).
Atomic Bitchwax – Force Field CD/LP (Tee Pee)
Featuring the powerhouse rhythm section from legendary space lords Monster Magnet, The Atomic Bitchwax plays balls-to-the-wall rock ‘n’ roll that smashes space rock and proto-metal into a towering celebration of the riff. The New Jersey power trio’s high-energy, scale-based guitar mangling hits astronomical levels on Force Field, with full-stack amps pushing out dangerous levels of blown-out metallic mayhem.
Debbie Boone – You Light Up My Life [Reissue/1977] CD (Real Gone Music)

Apollo Brown & Planet Asia – Anchovies CD/2xLP (Mello Music)
Anchovies aren’t for everybody. They’re greasy, smelly, salty and oily. Some people love them. Some people hate them. Apollo Brown & Planet Asia’s new collaboration album took inspiration from these polarizing fish and created a project that takes a certain palette to enjoy. Class hip-hop meets minimalism.

New album from the Swedish avant-metallers.
Robert Finley – Goin’ Platinum! CD/LP (Nonesuch)
Goin’ Platinum! is the newest effort from the soon-to-be legendary soul singer Robert Finley and his crack band of geniuses. From the lovelorn bombast of “If You Forget My Love” to the soul-stirring “Medicine Woman,” and the home-on-the-road ripper “Empty Arms” to the yearning “Honey Let Me Stay the Night,” all capped by the epic closer “Holy Wine,” featuring Finley’s ethereal falsetto, Robert’s performance left producer Dan Auerbach speechless – as it will anyone who lays ears to it. As for the album title, Auerbach gives all credit to Finley and his huge but wholly considerate personality. “He was just beaming from the second he walked in the door,” Auerbach says. “Every time he’d listen to playback, he’d say, ‘It’s goin’ platinum.’ That was his catch phrase. He’s larger than life. When he walked into the session he had on a three-quarter-length leather duster, leather pants, a giant belt buckle, red sparkle shirt tucked in, cowboy hat, snakeskin cowboy boots… Like he instinctually knows what to do when he’s singing, he knew this was his time to shine. Robert just showed up to work and was smiling all day long. All of us were.”
John Fogerty – Premonition [Reissue/1998] CD (BMG Rights Management)
Digitally remastered edition of the first live album released by Fogerty as a solo artist.
Walker Hayes – Boom CD (Sony Music Nashville)
Debut album from one of Rolling Stone’s 2017 “Country Artists to Watch.” Entertainment Weekly noted Hayes’ unique hybrid’s “genre blending” and NPR’s World Café raved Hayes is “writing these really autobiographical songs and delivering them in this way that feels very intimate, very close range.” Rolling Stone concurred, “… he writes songs that are damn near impossible to classify, and that’s what makes them so interesting.”
Jim James – Tribute To 2 CD/LP+MP3 (ATO)
After releasing the politically charged solo album Eternally Even in 2016, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James returns with Tribute To 2, a collection of cover songs that reverberate with fresh meaning. Blurring the boundaries of time and genre, James interprets songs made famous by a wide variety of artists – ranging from early 20th century standards by Ray Noble and Al Bowlly (“Midnight, The Stars And You,” “Love Is The Sweetest Thing”) and 1960’s songs by Willie Nelson and Sonny & Cher to Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s 1970 breakthrough hit “Lucky Man” and 1990s releases by Abbey Lincoln and Diane Izzo. Also included are covers of songs by The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Abey Lincoln and Irving Berlin. [Limited gold colored vinyl pressing also available.]

Kendrick Lamar – Damn [Collector’s Edition] CD (Aftermath)
Includes new cover art and a revised (reversed) track list. “I think like a week after the album came out, [fans] realized you can play the album backwards…It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm… It’s something that we definitely premeditate while we’re in the studio,” Kendrick said to MTV. “I don’t think the story necessarily changes, I think the feel changes…The initial vibe listening from the top all the way to the bottom is…this aggression and this attitude. You know, ‘DNA,’ and exposing who I really am. You listen from the back end, and it’s almost the duality and the contrast of the intricate Kendrick Lamar. Both of these pieces are who I am.”
Lando Chill – Boy Who Spoke To The Wind CD/LP (Mello Music)
Lando Chill is a warrior-poet, a man with one ear to Mother Nature and one to the plight of humankind. Lando wants to bring the issues of political freedom, police brutality and giving a voice to marginalized communities to the national conversation. Inspired by the Paulo Coelho book, The Alchemist, Lando’s new album is about transformation, personally and spiritually.
L’Orange – The Ordinary Man CD (Mello Music)
Known for his early 20th century inspired style and stripped down jazz influence, L’Orange’s solo work is often very personal and intimate and the new album is no different. Although mostly instrumental, there are vocal features from underground legends like Del The Funky Homosapien, Blu, Elzhi and Oddisee, as well as up and coming artists like Koreatown Oddity, Chuuwee and Solemn Brigham. [Vinyl edition due December 22.]

Rising from the depths of Australia’s untamed extreme metal scene, and counting current and former members of Destroyer 666, Denouncement Pyre and more among its ranks, Nocturnal Graves carved out a bloody and blasphemous path through the underground. Their 2007 debut album Satan’s Cross, a fierce and feral black thrash attack, is now reissued with five bonus tracks.

This 33-song anthology serves as a testament to the Utters’ peerless punk rock attack.
Chris Thile – Thanks For Listening CD (Nonesuch)
New studio recordings of ten songs originally written as Songs Of The Week on A Prairie Home Companion. Thile manned almost all of the stringed instruments on Thanks For Listening and is joined by guest singers Sarah Jarosz, Gaby Moreno, and Aoife O’Donovan. “Right now, with how easy it is to be the talker on social media, how hard it is to maintain focus or give something enough attention to appreciate it, we’re in a place where listening is a precious commodity,” says Thile. “Thanks For Listening is a celebration of people who haven’t switched off, despite being given every reason to do so.” [Vinyl edition due December 15.]
War Of Ages – Alpha CD (Facedown)

35th Anniversary Edition. Author of such songs as “Galveston,” “Wichita Lineman,” and “Up, Up and Away,” Jimmy Webb is one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, but his solo album releases have never caught fire commercially. The Album Leaf – One Day I’ll Be On Time [Reissue/2001] 2xLP (Eastern Glow Recordings)
Limited colored vinyl reissues of The Album Leaf’s first two records. “When Jimmy LaValle isn’t contributing to Tristeza, San Diego’s artful torrent of noise, he is composing more introspective works as The Album Leaf. A veteran of such esteemed San Diego hardcore outfits as Swing Kids, The Locust, and Gogogo Airheart, LaValle shows his calm, quiet side with these mostly instrumental songs built from soothing, shimmering layers of synthesizer, guitar, strings, and percussion that fall over each other like waterfalls tumbling into murky, rippling pools.”

In the spring of 2008, Amon Amarth returned to producer Jens Bogren’s studio in Rebro to record the mighty Twilight of the Thunder God. “Jens gave us new ideas and perspectives about song writing and sound,” explains vocalist Johan Hegg. Bad Books – Bad Books [Reissue/2010] LP (Triple Crown)
A true accident if there ever was one; Bad Books was never an intended nor calculated side project of Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull. Though the two musicians have collaborated and performed together on tour and within the Favorite Gentlemen community of artists for years, the genesis of Bad Books came from a simple idea to fill space and time off the road by collaborating on a small batch of songs together. Their collectable 2010 debut LP has been reissued on vinyl.
Peter Matthew Bauer – Mount Qaf (Divine Love) LP (Fortune Tellers Music)
The second LP from Peter Matthew Bauer (of The Walkmen) is an album of esoteric love songs: strange and primitive rock & roll performances each filled with a desperate, skeptical and highly personal form of mysticism driven by the artists own synchronistic outlook on life.

Califone – Heron King Blues [Reissue/2004] 2xLP (Dead Oceans)
Long out-of-print vinyl reissue of Califone’s critically acclaimed 2004 full-length album complete with a bonus LP featuring unreleased tracks. For this recording, the band set out to make a record like Captain Beefheart’s Mirror Man, entering the studio with a blank canvas and laying things down quickly. The resulting songs combine the bands more pop-oriented qualities alongside their more spaced out ethereal thoughts.

Benjamin Clementine – I Tell A Fly 2xLP (Virgin)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. The Mercury-winner has swerved the mainstream and made an avant garde concept album about Aleppo, the refugee crisis and two flies in love. “I Tell A Fly delights in making its listener feel as disorientated and confused as the characters that inhabit its songs: occupants of the Calais jungle, bullied children, residents of Aleppo, migrants struggling off the coast of Sicily. Lovely tunes are briefly dangled in front of you then snatched away. Wildly contrasting pieces of music crash into each other without warning. Lyrics come packed with knotty, repetitious word-games.” – The Guardian
The Dark Element – The Dark Element LP (Vinyl Eck)
The Dark Element is a new musical project fronted by the former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon together with Finnish guitarist and songwriter Jani Liimatainen – two talents of the European metal scene.
Kevin Devine – Make The Clocks Move [Reissue/2003] 2xLP (Triple Crown)
Originally released in 2003, Make The Clocks Move is the second studio album from Brooklyn, NY-based singer/songwriter Kevin Devine. The album was his first to be produced by frequent collaborators Chris Bracco and Mike Skinner who are also members of his band here, playing bass and drums respectively. Kali Masi – Wind Instrument LP (Take This To Heart)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. “Kali Masi carved out a sonic space between the urgency of the punk and hardcore bands that were our foundation and the Midwestern Emo breeze that was sweeping through our towns at the time. But, we wanted to be a counterpoint for the evergreen music scene that thrives in Chicago; to move with the current but never float on the surface. To write as many songs as we could in ways that we hadn’t heard before. So, we dug in our heels and started pushing” says singer/guitarist Sam Porter on where their sound for their debut LP Wind Instrument comes from.”
Kindling – Hush LP (6131)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Started as the recording project of Stephen Pierce and Gretchen Williams in 2014, Kindling has evolved into a full-fledged band through a previous full-length and a prolific series of EPs that would hone their dreamy lo-fi beginnings into a muscular wall of sound. While much of Kindling’s work could be given the shoegaze tag, the band always hinted at something broader and more immediate amongst the fuzz. With new album Hush the band has achieved a unique blend of crushing guitars and undeniable melodies that is sure to appeal to shoegaze fans.

Music from deep in the trenches, songs that confront the blitzkrieg of bad news but offer light at the end of the bombardment. Pressed on clear vinyl with smoke colored splatters.
Oddisee – The Iceberg LP (Mello Music Group)
Released last March on CD – now available on vinyl. The prolific MC, producer and musician Oddisee’s new album, The Iceberg, is a plea for humanity to dig deeper in search of understanding and common ground. The album is a distillation of stereotypical tropes in hip-hop and beyond, 12 tracks about money, sex, politics, race and religion that appear superficial until his multi-dimensional lyrics unfurl to expose the complexities of individuality and identity: How we see ourselves and how others see us. Deeply soulful, and shot through with jazz, go-go, gospel, thick R&B and hard beats, The Iceberg is a timely, poetic statement. The album was recorded and produced by Oddisee at his own studio in Brooklyn, made with live instrumentation performed by Oddisee and members of his band, Good Company.
Open Mike Eagle – Brick Body Kids Still Daydream LP (Mello Music)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Open Mike Eagle’s newest album is a masterpiece mural drawn in sidewalk chalk. Brick Body Kids Still Daydream addresses gentrification, culture and family. A multi-talented performer, the comedian, artist and rapper approaches music with a postmodern approach, making the audience look at themselves through the lens of his art. “Motor-mouthed rapper Open Mike Eagle has gotten raves for albums that explore the comedy of neurosis. His new one, easily his headiest, is a concept LP built around Chicago’s Robert Taylor Homes, a famously mismanaged housing project destroyed 10 years ago. Eagle impressionistically inserts himself into events real and imagined. ‘We live in a space that should have never existed,’ he raps. The results add a historical angle to hip-hop’s powerful mix of the personal and political.” — Rolling Stone
