Beverly – Career CD/LP (Kanine)
Frankie Rose is well known for playing, writing, and singing in many bands. You might know some as The Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, The Dum Dum Girls, and even her own Frankie Rose band. But being such a prolific artist that she is, she has too much to not do. So for this new band, she enlisted her best friend, Drew and conquered up the spirit of Thelma And Louise to make some raw and raucous girl garage do-op that you can actually sing and dance to.

Candy Heart’s new album was produced by Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory, A Day To Remember) and features the bands mix of catchy ‘90s influenced punk rock.
Mark Chadwick – Moment CD/LP (On The Fiddle)
Mark’s motivation for Moment was to make something “quick, immediate and beautiful.” Taking songs that had been written on acoustic guitar at his kitchen table, he played them once through to the band and, following one practice run through, each song was laid down on its third take. The result captures the immediacy of the approach, giving the album a freshness that harks back to both the early rock & roll recording of the late ‘50s and ‘6’s and the folk canon of simple songs well played.
Corrosion Of Conformity – IX CD (Candlelight)
Be it southern groove, the championing of all things doom, or the band’s cherished punk rock roots, IX contains eleven more reasons to simply love C.O.C.

Ronnie Dove – The Complete Original Chart Hits 1964-1969 CD (Real Gone Music)
He notched over 20 hits and was a fixture on the charts throughout the mid- 60s, but to date Ronnie Dove has not received the definitive retrospective he deserves, as inferior-sounding album reissues and compilations have cluttered up the marketplace. Eno & Hyde – High Life CD (Warp)
At six tracks and 45 minutes, Highlife is the clearest expression yet of the “Reichkuti” (Steve Reich meets Fela Kuti) direction that first brought the Eno/Hyde collaboration into being. And as the polyrhythms and melodies build, swirl and syncopate, the album feels truly alive with the energy of this time in the studio. Vinyl version August 26.

Green Linez (Chris Greenberg of Hong Kong In The ‘60s and Matt Lyne of A Taut Line). The project combines the ‘90s dance music and R&B from Chris & Matt’s childhoods with the ‘70s/’80s jazz-funk and synthesizer soundtracks that they have obsessed over in the years since. Herein, they remix tracks from such luminaries as Mi Ami, Darhouse Family, Sorcerer, 9DW, Seahawks, and Sauce 81.

Lone – Reality Testing CD/LP (R&S)
The hyper-chromatic music of Matt Cutler marks him out as a true impressionist; as Lone, he drizzles brightly colored melody through his tracks with all the reflexive skill of a master painter daubing inks and pigment across paper. On Reality Testing he sends notes and chords rippling delicately into space before allowing them to disperse, each oozing beautifully away into the background fabric of the music. Combined with rhythms that ebb and flow, shifting from propulsive club constructions to beatific coastal hip-hop, it’s a sensuous, immersive, heady experience.
Lulu – The ATCO Sessions 1969-72 2xCD (Real Gone Music)
Atco/Atlantic had struck artistic and commercial gold when they brought Dusty Springfield to the States to record with Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin and Tom Dowd and topnotch Southern session musicians, so it made sense for the label to introduce another great British pop-soul singer, Lulu, to the same stellar production team.
Corb Lund – Counterfeit Blues CD/CD+DVD/LP+MP3 (New West)
On very short notice, Americana and Canadian roots artist Corb Lund was given the chance to record an album at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN. New York Community Choir – Make Every Day Count [Reissue/1978] CD (Real Gone Music)
Formed in the early ’70s as an offshoot of the popular, Grammy-nominated Isaac Douglas Singers, The New York Community Choir originally consisted of some one hundred members under the direction of Benny Diggs and included prominent writer Arthur Freeman. The Choir first came to national prominence in the US in 1971 on a much-acclaimed recording by renowned poet Nikki Giovanni, The Truth Is On Its Way. Released in 1978, their follow-up set, Make Every Day Count, boasted arrangements by Leon Pendarvis (the co-leader of the Saturday Night Live band) and featured such stellar New York session musicians as Paul Shaffer and Richard Tee on keyboards, Jeff Mironov and John Tropea on guitars, Errol Crusher Bennett on percussion, Will Lee on bass and Steve Gadd on drums.
Lee Anthony Norris and Porya Hatami – Longing Daylight CD/LP (Carpe Sonum)

RA – Collateral Damage CD (Bridge Nine)
Collateral Damage was recorded with Dean Baltulonis at The Wild Arctic in Portsmouth, NH (Agnostic Front, Modern Life Is War, Sick Of It All). These ten songs have brutally honest lyrics that cover a wide range of topics and harsh truths with no holds barred. Musically, they are equally as punishing as the band puts an updated spin on heavy hitting CT and NY-style hardcore. Vinyl version due July 15.
Red Wanting Blue – Little America CD/2xLP (Fanatic)
Formed as a college band in Athens, Ohio by singer-songwriter Scott Terry, Red Wanting Blue went on to establish itself as a quintessential example of perseverance; building an exceedingly loyal fanbase throughout the Midwest on non-stop touring, all without any industry support.
Sadistik – Ultraviolet CD (Fake Four Inc.)
Ultraviolet is Sadistik’s unabashed nosedive into the subconscious mind, a three dimensional portrait painted in hues of psychosis and psychedelia. Available in Regular and Deluxe editions. Deluxe adds four bonus tracks.
Spanky And Our Gang – The Complete Mercury Singles CD (Real Gone Music)
New 21-track collection that includes every unique A and B-side the band released on Mercury during their late-‘60s stint with the label. Led by Elaine Spanky McFarlane, Spanky And Our Gang had a folk-pop sound oft-compared to the Mamas And The Papas, but their harmonies and arrangements were, if anything, a little more sophisticated and varied, incorporating pop and jazz influences (while admittedly lacking a songwriter of the stature of John Phillips).
Robin Thicke – Paula CD (Interscope)
Brand new album from Grammy nominated soul singer, musician and songwriter. Written and produced entirely by Robin, “Paula” features the brand new hit single “Get Her Back”.

Wozniak – Solution CD (Catune)
Wozniak is a solo project by Yuta Hoshi, best known for his machine techno project Testav, Dalljub Step Club, Outatbero, and Habit. After years of going out to night clubs, Hoshi came up with a connecting sound between the Berlin minimal of Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound, Berghain & Ostgut Ton with post-rock.
Wreckless Eric – The Donovan Of Trash [Reissue/1993] CD/LP (Fire)
The Donovan Of Trash is a truly punk record; a DIY, lo-fi milestone containing some of Wreckless Eric’s finest songs, a fact sadly overlooked at the time of its original release in 1993 by fans and critics unable to get beyond the harsh, weird and often dissonant sound to discover the beauty within. This Fire Records reissue, remastered and repackaged under Eric’s direction will do much to rectify this lamentable oversight.
Steve Wynn – Sketches In Spain CD (Omnivore)
Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate) has been recording steadily for decades since his emergence in the 1980s. Unfortunately, not all of those recordings have been available on these shores. This collection of 19 tracks was pulled from two albums recorded and only available in Spain. From originals to covers of Three Dog Night’s “Never Been To Spain” and Los Bravos “Black Is Black,” these recordings are the perfect evolution and compliment to The Dream Syndicate’s work on their classic albums.

First time repress of this private press post-punk gem, remastered by Butch Vig.
Peter Murphy – Lion 2xLP (Nettwerk)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Lion (produced by Killing Joke bassist Youth) is described by Murphy as “a mixture of stuff, almost like operas for the dispossessed. It’s very romantic and very deep and emotional, quite symphonic in places, but then becomes, like, a rabble-rousing pirate sea shanty.”
Henri Pierre Noël – One More Step [Reissue/1980] LP (Wah Wah)
On moving to Canada from his original home of Haiti, pianist and singer/songwriter Henri-Pierre Noël brought with him much of the tropical island’s influences.
Radio Moscow – Magical Dirt LP (Alive)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Magical Dirt is Radio Moscow’s fourth studio album. The band’s fountainhead Parker Griggs, along with partners-in-crime Anthony Meier (bass) and Paul Marrone (drums), have cultivated yet another blues-rock masterpiece that crossbreeds late ‘60s psych-rock and face-melting guitar histrionics with the foundation-crumbling rhythms from early ‘70s hard-rock, and even includes a couple of harrowing tracks built from the bedrock of rural Delta blues.
Alexis Taylor – Await Barbarians LP (Domino)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Alexis Taylor’s (lead singer of Hot Chip) second solo album, Await Barbarians is a series of songs “from the halfway line.” Possessing the same immediacy as his music with Hot Chip and the adventurousness of his work with About Group, there is a unique emotional condor to his solo work. As always with Taylor’s writing the moments of honesty are matched with a sense of humor, playfulness and bounce.
The The – Soul Mining [Reissue/1983] 2xLP (Sony Legacy)
Remastered at Abbey Road Studios by The The’s Matt Johnson and packaged in a lavish 12″ box, this vinyl only release includes an authentic reproduction of the 1983 release on HQ-180g vinyl, plus an extra 12″ gatefold vinyl of alternative versions and remixes. The box set also includes a unique ‘news-poster’ containing extensive notes written by Johnson that detail the making of the album.
Traxman – Da Mind Of Traxman Vol. 2 2xLP+MP3 (Planet Mu)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Da Mind Of Traxman Vol. 2 follows 2012’s first volume of the same name, and more recently, last year’s Teklife Vol. 3: The Architek. Where those two albums saw Ferguson slicing and chopping the usual slew of R&B and hip-hop samples for his beats, this one is reportedly more stripped down, each track made with just a sample or two “diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources.
Various Artists – Hits From The Streets Volme II 7”( Infinity Cat)
The A-side features “Inside the Phone,” a Gary Numan-inspired pop song from Diarrhea Planet/OGG super group King Bitch, and “In My Box,” a bratty yet lovable tune from Study Hall. Teenage hardcore punks Jawws drop some “Bad Power” on the flip side, followed by “Cool River” by math-rock duo Gnarwhal. Purple vinyl.
Wildest Dreams – Last Ride b/w Call To Prayer 7” (Smalltown Supersound)
