AIMS Marketing Program/ Featured Titles Promoted This Week:
Babymetal – The Other One CD/LP (Cooking Vinyl)
Last year Babymetal were “sealed” from the world after a successful 10-year journey. Earlier this year, The Other One restoration project began to recover the Babymetal we never knew existed within a virtual world called the Metalverse. The concept album reveals the other side of the Babymetal story that no one knew existed. A total of 10 songs have been discovered within The Other One restoration project, in which each song represents each theme of the 10 parallel worlds that seem to exist. [Two vinyl colorways are available: transparent and indie store exclusive white.]
The Bouncing Souls – Ten Stories High CD/LP (Pure Noise)
For over three decades The Bouncing Souls have been one of the most reliably joyful bands in punk rock, fostering an incredibly close kinship with their loyal listeners. Now on Ten Stories High, the band have taken this connection even further, creating an album of songs directly inspired by the stories of their fans. Ten Stories High finds The Bouncing Souls – vocalist Greg Attonito, guitarist Pete Steinkopf, bassist Bryan Kienlen, and drummer George Rebelo – making the best of the chaotic past couple of years. With touring on pause during the pandemic, the group turned to Patreon connect with their listener community, including a tier where fans could have a custom song written for them. The process would begin with the band having Zoom conversations with fans. [An indie store exclusive yellow w/ orange & black multicolor vinyl pressing is available.]
Lucinda Chua – YIAN CD/LP+MP3 (4AD)
Conscious to hold space within her music for people to live inside, Chua thought often of YIAN‘s sound in terms of sonic spacing. The hushed, flickering tones of “Autumn Leaves Don’t Come” and swelling strings of instrumental “Grief Piece” sound completely intimate, like she’s singing into your ear, yet capacious, like soft cocoons of sound. “For me, the music is like a home,” Chua explains. Cultivating a Chinese dance practice is as much part of the story of YIAN as the music itself. Chua returned to dance after struggling with the conservative constraints of ballet as a child, finding intuition and affirmation in the fluidity and naturalism of Chinese classical, fan & ribbon and contemporary. Dance is entwined in the very texture of YIAN, with Chua undertaking deep study of Chinese dance forms whilst working on the album. [A limited-edition clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Lana Del Rey – Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Underneath Ocean Blvd CD/2xLP (IGA/UMG)
Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Underneath Ocean Blvd is the ninth studio album from acclaimed singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, comprising 16 tracks and interludes with features from Father John Misty, Tommy Genesis, Jon Batiste, Bleachers and more. It follows the prolific artist’s 2021 albums Chemtrails Over The Country Club and Blue Banisters. [An indie store exclusive light green color vinyl pressing featuring alternate cover art is available.]
Depeche Mode – Memento Mori CD/2xLP (Columbia)
Memento Mori is Depeche Mode’s fifteenth studio album and its first as the two-piece lineup of Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, following co-founder Andrew “Fletch” Fletcher’s tragic passing in 2022. Produced by James Ford, with additional production work by Marta Salogni, Memento Mori‘s gestation took place during the early stages of the Covid pandemic, resulting in themes inspired directly by that period. The album’s 12 tracks chart a vast expanse of moods and textures, from its ominous opening to its closing resolve – running the gamut from paranoia and obsession to catharsis and joy and hitting myriad points between.
Fake Names – Expendables CD/LP+MP3 (Epitaph)
If credibility were currency, Fake Names’ wealth would be off the charts. Composed of Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Dag Nasty), Michael Hampton (S.O.A., Embrace), Dennis Lyxzén (Refused, INVSN, The [International] Noise Conspiracy), Johnny Temple (Girls Against Boys, Soulside) and the newest member Brendan Canty (Fugazi, Rites Of Spring), the band is a veritable post-hardcore dream team. However instead of rehashing the past, Expendables is a reinvention that sees the band dialing back the distortion and leaning into the melodies. The result pairs their unparalleled pedigree with a pop sensibility that’s slightly unexpected and wholly satisfying.
Fall Out Boy – So Much (For) Stardust CD/LP/Cassette (Fueled By Ramen/Elektra)
Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum selling rock band Fall Out Boy return with their eighth studio album, So Much (For) Stardust. It marks a homecoming for the band on multiple fronts; the first of which found the band reuniting with renowned producer Neal Avron, whom they’ve worked with on three previous albums (From Under The Cork Tree, Infinity On High, Folie à Deux). Additionally, So Much (For) Stardust is released on Fueled By Ramen/Elektra – Fall Out Boy’s first album with the label since their 2003 debut album Take This To Your Grave, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023. [A limited-edition sage green color vinyl pressing is available. Also available: two cassette versions (clear shell and clay red color shell).]
Debby Friday – Good Luck CD/LP+MP3 (Sub Pop)
The usual boom-and-bust cycles of growing up – breaking down, gathering the strength to get up, fumbling hard, doing it all over again – can feel unmooring, to say the least, but, and according to Debby Friday, its tragedies and glories need savoring. Losing illusions, gaining expectations; getting deep into the private, soupy kaleidoscope of what’s possible and what’s futile – Good Luck, her debut, and supernovic, full-length album, is built on welcoming the journey’s complicated drops and mountain highs with something more like grace. On the album’s surface, you’ll hear hints of Santigold’s dub dazzle, the MIDI-crush of Death Grips, but less obviously the plaintiveness of directors like Eric Rohmer, or the grotesque decadence of later-era Sylvia Plath. Few do it like her, though, and Good Luck spans from lucid, acid housey, high-BPM tracks to melancholia and darkness to striking falsetto pop with assuredness and aplomb. [A metallic silver color Loser Edition vinyl pressing is available.]
Lankum – False Lankum CD/2xLP+MP3 (Rough Trade)
From the start, Dublin’s Lankum planned for False Lankum, their fourth record, to feel like a complete piece – a progression and a journey for the listener. They explain, “we wanted to create more contrast on the record so the light parts would be almost spiritual and the dark parts would be incredibly dark, even horror inducing.” The album’s 12 tracks, composed of 10 traditional songs and two originals, show the four-piece using a new palate to color their sound in an increasingly experimental way, alongside longtime producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy.
Ne Obliviscaris – Exul CD/2xLP (Season Of Mist)
Exul personifies Ne Obliviscaris’ distinctive, boundary-pushing ethos. The band’s trademark blend of emotion and beauty is as towering as ever, if not even more compelling, particularly how the haunting violin lines carefully weave their way around the riffs. The duality of Charles’ clean vocals and Xenoyr’s growls remains the narrative anchor, elevating songs that emanate sophistication and are a masterclass in composition. [The limited-edition CD + Blu-ray mediabook edition includes a bonus live concert video.]
Nickel Creek – Celebrants CD/2xLP (Repair/Thirty Tigers)
Grammy Award-winning trio, Nickel Creek – mandolinist Chris Thile, violinist Sara Watkins and guitarist Sean Watkins – deliver Celebrants, their first new album in nine years. Their fifth studio album overall, Celebrants marks a highly anticipated return for the beloved trio and explores the inherent dynamics of human connection. Across the 18 tracks, the trio addresses love, friendship, and time with lyrics both poetic and plain-spoken, as they see bridges built, crossed, burned, and rebuilt. Recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A, the album was produced by longtime collaborator Eric Valentine (Queens Of The Stone Age, Grace Potter, Weezer) and features Mike Elizondo on bass. [An indie store exclusive yellow color vinyl pressing is available.]
Ov Sulfur – The Burden Ov Faith CD/LP (Century Media)
OV Sulfur is the sound of a musical left-hand path that is nothing short of sonically jarring, lyrically blasphemous and utterly epic in its delivery. The Burden Ov Faith is blackened deathcore that challenges the genre’s conventions, while inviting comparisons to Dimmu Borgir or Behemoth in their prime, with an ominous sense of melody dotting their dark musical landscapes. At the center of it, ex-Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover reemerges as a force to contend with, condemning the trappings of conservative religiosity on tracks like the album’s volcanic opener, “Stained In Rot” or the unforgettable “Death Ov Circumstance”. [A limited-edition silver color vinyl pressing is available.]
Caroline Rose – The Art Of Forgetting CD/2xLP/Cassette (New West)
With The Art of Forgetting, Caroline Rose took on the dual role of writer and producer. The album encapsulates the feeling of experiencing recent memories, having them turn into old ones and then ultimately forgetting those memories altogether. There is a romantic nature within the sonic landscape of this record. Tape effects and loops emulate the feeling of aging while the juxtaposition of modern acoustic-electronic textures, like lo-fi tape next to hi-fi granular synths result in some of their most mature and honest work to date. [Two vinyl colorways are available: green and deluxe 45rpm audiophile clear.]
Additional Social Media Program Titles:
Kate Davis – Fish Bowl LP+MP3 (ANTI-)
Across Fish Bowl‘s 12 deeply personal tracks, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Kat Davis traces her very own hero’s journey, from the moment she steps away from her old life to the moment she finds inner peace. She follows these steps through the eyes of Fish Bowl‘s central character, FiBo, who starts out on opening track “Monster Mash” realizing the community she cultivated has turned on her and starts to seek real change. Leading the entire creative process, Davis wove multiple genres – art-rock, pop, and folk – into an intricate, unique tapestry of sound. As she steps into an exciting new stage of her music career, Davis is taking the very meticulousness she developed from her years in the jazz world and applying them to Fish Bowl.
Wage War – The Stripped Sessions LP (Fearless)

CDs + Vinyl:
Acid King – Beyond Vision CD/LP (Blues Funeral)
Beyond Vision began as an experiment and became the path to a silver future, marking the dawn of a new era for a band that historically relied almost exclusively on thundering riffage. Recorded by longtime producer Billy Anderson, the album’s songs flow into each other without beginning or ending, propelled by an undulating, lysergic pulse that takes listeners wherever they’d like to go.
Arooj Aftab / Vijay Iyer / Shahzad Ismaily – Love In Exile CD/LP (Verve)
Love In Exile asks you to step inside its sense of time, to stretch out alongside these delightful and unhurriedly unfolding songs. Profound impact is achieved with minimal instrumentation: Iyer on pianos and electronics, Ismaily on bass and Moog synth and Aftab’s exquisite Urdu vocals. Subtle musical interrelationships build into moments of deeply felt drama. Shimmering keyboard melodies and stirring vocals, earthy basslines, and hypnotic drones: together they create an album of stunning gravitas and beauty.
Babymetal – The Other One CD/LP (Cooking Vinyl)
Last year Babymetal were “sealed” from the world after a successful 10-year journey. [Two vinyl colorways are available: transparent and indie store exclusive white.]
Eric Bibb – Ridin’ CD (Stony Plain Music)

Grounded in the folk and blues tradition with contemporary sensibilities, Bibb’s music continues to reflect his thoughts on current world events and his own lived experiences, whilst remaining entertaining, uplifting, inspirational and relevant. [Vinyl edition due April 14.]
Ken Boothe – Essential Artist Collection 2xCD/2xLP (Trojan)

After making his recording debut in 1962, Ken enjoyed a hugely successful career in Jamaica before achieving international stardom in 1974 with his chart-topping interpretation of “Everything I Own” and the top 10 follow-up, “Crying Over You”. Both popular tracks are featured on this collection, which forms part of Trojan Record’s new Essential Artist series, which showcases the best-loved recordings of some of Jamaica’s greatest musical talents. This release demonstrates the exceptional vocal talents of one of the finest and most soulful performers to have made their mark on modern popular music scene since the ‘60s.

Dance is entwined in the very texture of YIAN, with Chua undertaking deep study of Chinese dance forms whilst working on the album. [A limited-edition clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Chris Church – Radio Transient CD (Big Stir)
New release from celebrated Lenoir, North Carolina singer-songwriter Chris Church. Radio Transient features ten songs in a fresh, sparkling, and propulsive new style for Chris, each framing his renowned melodic instincts, lyrical wit, and unmistakable vocal firepower in a giddy new – and irresistible – context. Chris Church has never made the same album twice, and the surprises born of that adventurous spirit are what fans and critics alike have come to love about his work. In many ways, the clean guitars, dramatic synths, franticly kinetic drums (courtesy of Nick Bertling) and urgent backing vocals from Lindsay Murray (of Gretchen’s Wheel) make Radio Transient Chris’s most “pop” album yet.
Luke Combs – Gettin’ Old CD/2xLP/Cassette (SME Nashville)
Just nine months after Growin’ Up was released, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Combs is back with a new companion album, Gettin’ Old. Produced by Combs, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton, Gettin’ Old is Combs’ fourth full-length album following 2022’s Growin’ Up, 2019’s What You See Is What You Get and his debut, This One’s For You. Matt Corby – Everything’s Fine CD/LP (Communion)

CVC – Get Real CD/LP (CVC Recordings)
CVC (or Church Village Collective in full) hail from this sleepy village 10 miles north of Cardiff, nestling atop a hill in the Welsh valleys. Their lush three-part harmonies echo the music they grew up on – contemporary pop’s building blocks: the Beatles, Neil Young and the Beach Boys – rich, melodic, and pristine music that’s steeped in rock’s history. [An indie store exclusive gold color vinyl pressing is available.]
Darling West – Cosmos CD/LP (Jansen)
Darling West decamped for a tiny island on Norway’s west coast to begin writing what was to become Cosmos, their fifth studio album. For the first time, the band’s core – married couple Mari and Tor Egil Kreken – have included band members Thomas Gallatin and Christer Slaaen in the songwriting and production process. As a larger united, Darling West has really evolved. Cosmos is indeed the sound of expansion. West coast, cosmic folk, Americana… Call it what you will – there are even hints of afro blues on here – but where the band once fit firmly in the folk/americana category, you might as well just call it pop these days.
Angel Bat Dawid – Requiem For Jazz CD/2xLP (International Anthem)
Composer, clarinetist, singer and educator Angel Bat Dawid announces the release of Requiem For Jazz. A 12-movement suite composed, arranged, and inspired in part by dialogue from Edward O. Bland’s 1959 film The Cry Of Jazz, the album is a wide-ranging treatise on the African American story from one of its most astute narrators. Itself an incisive critique of racial politics in the USA, The Cry Of Jazz draws formal comparisons between the structure of jazz music and the African American experience – as one of freedom and restraint, of joy and suffering – that manifests in the triumph of spirit over the crushing prejudice of daily life. Cutting together archive reels from Black neighborhoods in Chicago with live performance footage from Sun Ra and his Arkestra among others, the film remains a radical and prescient evocation of Black pride and its roots in the history of jazz, from spirituals to blues and beyond. [A limited-edition purple color vinyl pressing is available.]

I hope you love it as much as I love the key of Db major.”

The songs evoke a familiar feel for fans of his debut album, but new instrumentation and country-leaning lyrics give us a glimpse of another side of Andrew. “I love when a rock band makes a country album, ” he explained, pointing to The Byrds as a major source of inspiration. Andrew played every instrument on his solo debut, Homemade. This time around, he called on some local musicians to add color. [A translucent yellow & red swirl color vinyl pressing is available.]
Grim – Message [Reissue/1987] LP (Urashima)
Grim is the one-man project of Jun Konagaya – formed from the ashes of White Hospital, his legendary early 1980s noise duo with Tomosada Kuwahara – which, accepting a long hiatus in the middle, has bridged the worlds of industrial music, power electronics, and noise for nearly three decades. Belonging roughly to the first wave of Japanese noise, Konagaya is particularly noteworthy among his peers for casting an eye further afield, drawing influences from bands like Whitehouse and SPK, rather than members of his own scene, as well varied reference points as far afield as the traditional folk music of Tibet.
- Hawkline – Milk For Flowers CD/LP (Heavenly)
On H. Hawkline’s fifth solo album, beauty flourishes in the corners of grief’s desecrated church; jewelling the cobwebs, gilding the dust, and making a relic of its creator’s arrow-shot heart. Brought to being in Huw Evans’s hometown of Cardiff, the writing of Milk For Flowers served as the outlet for several dances with the violence of life – a spate of significant events which took his “spectrum of emotion and experience suddenly widescreen”.
Sophie B Hawkins – Free Myself CD/LP (Lightyear)

John Holt – Essential Artist Collection 2xCD/2xLP (Trojan)
After fronting popular Jamaican vocal trio, the Paragons on a succession of best-selling rock steady singles during the late ‘60s, John Holt went on to become one of Jamaica’s most popular solo performers, scoring a series of reggae hits for many of the island’s leading record producers. His international breakthrough came in 1974 with the hugely popular 1000 Volts Of Holt album, which fused raw reggae rhythms with sophisticated orchestral arrangements. The highlight of the long player was a reworking of Kris Kristoffersson’s country hit, “Help Me Make It Through The Night”, which the following year became a global hit. Over the years that followed, Holt remained a giant of the reggae scene with further best sellers and numerous sell-out shows around the world. The very best of his solo work has been brought together on this Essential Artist compilation.

Jacqueline Humbert & David Rosenbloom – 1979 – 1980 [Reissue/2013] CD/2xLP (Unseen Worlds)
Jacqueline Humbert (aka J. Jasmine) is a songwriter of brains and wit on par with Robert Ashley, with whom she’s worked extensively. David Rosenboom’s complex, harmonic electronic arrangements are accentuated brilliantly by percussion from William Winant. Daytime Viewing can happily be added to a small but significant group of work that, through lesser-known paths, engaged in an equally revelatory reexamination of the Great American Songbook as minimalism did with 20th Century composition.

Fourth album from the Finnish melodic/extreme/doom metal band.
Katie Melua – Love & Money CD/LP (BMG)
Love & Money is Katie Melua’s ninth studio album; a stunning and personal 10 track snapshot of Katie as both an artist and human. Producer Leo Abrahams assembled an exceptional group of musicians with an astounding track record to complete the sound of the record. The album was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios, before Katie and Abrahams took the tracks back to his own studio in Leyton, built over a WW2 bomb shelter. This is where Novelty Island was born, inspired by classic pop, woozy electronica, and northern wordplay.

Palette Knife – New Game+ CD (Take This To Heart)
New Game+, the sophomore LP from Columbus, Ohio’s Palette Knife, encompasses a vast array of rock/emo tunes that are reminiscent of scene stalwarts Into It. Over It, Tiny Moving Parts or a more intricately guitar based Modern Baseball.

The Baseball Project – 3rd [Reissue/2014] 2xLP (Yep Roc)
Color vinyl reissues. Rock n’ roll vets Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5, R.E.M., Young Fresh Fellows) and Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate, Gutterball, Danny & Dusty, Miracle 3) have an unhealthy love for music undermined only by an even more unhealthy love of baseball. The compatriots blend their two passions with The Baseball Project Volume 1: Frozen Ropes And Dying Quails. Their second season finds band members Steve Wynn (The Miracle 3, The Dream Syndicate), Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5, Young Fresh Fellows, R.E.M.), Linda Pitmon (The Miracle 3, Golden Smog) and Peter Buck (R.E.M.) drilling down even deeper into the Byzantine, lore-laden annals of baseball history. 2014’s 3rd continues their tradition of inspired rock songs that provide passionately funny and sarcastically reverent commentary on the sport of baseball. And those who aren’t fans of the sport can still enjoy the music, while brushing up on their knowledge.

Carter Tutti – Feral Vapours Of The Silver Ether [Reissue/2007] LP (CTI)
Feral Vapours Of The Silver Ether (2007) was the second album by Chris & Cosey as Carter Tutti after 2004’s Cabal. The project was their concerted effort to explore more sensual, even psychedelic, forms after more than 25 years of defining synth-pop and techno-pop in their own image since departing from pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle. Anyone expecting Chris Carter’s puckered, ductile rhythms may be left wanting by this album, but anyone who loves his sleek, layered synth contours, or the intoxicating presence of Cosey’s voice and brass are strongly encouraged to revel in its sexy sensuousness.

Chasms – Glimpse Of Heaven LP (Felte)
Pink & blue swirl color vinyl pressing. Hawaii-born, L.A.-based musician, singer, producer and professional mastering engineer Jess Labrador, aka Chasms makes deeply personal work that has always felt like an unveiling. Following 2019’s The Mirage, which was a dark, dubby meditation on grief and loss, this new material off an upcoming album is both familiar and different. The third full-length under the Chasms name, Glimpse Of Heaven trades in washes of reverb for starker moments of closeness and intimacy. The project’s somber, rhythm-focused sound has evolved through the years to include elements of dub, techno, and ambient, expanding its initial melancholic mixture of industrial, shoegaze, and dream pop.
Cheap Trick – Authorized Greatest Hits [Reissue/2000] 2xLP (Sony Legacy)

Chris & Cosey – Muzik Fantastique! [Reissue/1992] LP (CTI)
When Throbbing Gristle disbanded in 1981, Chris and Cosey embarked on a career as a duo that’d see them through four decades (and counting) of constant experimentation, reinvention, and innovation. By the time they released Musik Fantastique!, they were already deep into their journey and had settled into a relaxed groove. With little to prove, they were able to concentrate on slick songwriting and twitchy beatbox and synth work that was pulling in as much inspiration from Detroit techno and electro as it was chilly European pop. Nowhere near as gloomy and sensual as 1987’s well-known Exotika or it’s grinding, industrial follow-ups, this album sounds bright in comparison, with fizzy electronics and fourth-world FM sounds replacing the usual thick Wax Trax-era thump and erotique tension.
Chris & Cosey – Elemental 7 LP (CTI)
Elemental 7 has cast a looming shadow of influence over almost all electronic music since it was made. Elemental 7 is the soundtrack to the film of the same name that saw the duo working once more with John Lacey – Lacey had previously worked with Cosey in COUM Transmissions and introduced Chris Carter to the collective. The album’s highlight and one of their best loved songs, “Dancing Ghosts”, sounds as fresh and relevant today as it must have on its original release.

Fredfades &Sraw – Double Density LP (Mutual Intentions)
SP-1200 beats made using postal service. Fredfades and Sraw collaborate through post, exchanging dusty beats for an experimental hip-hop record. The process of sending floppy discs back and forth, where each producer added element over element on their own SP-1200, has been on-going for almost 10 years, slowly building a collaborative body of work. The result is Double Density, an LP that oozes with the character of that infamous instrument which laid much of the foundation for the earliest hip-hop artists and still manages to evoke those raw and visceral sounds of that era.
Free The Robots – Kaduwa LP (Astral Travels)
Free The Robots intentionally marries various electronica genres into a joyous, machine-like syrup that swims between the currents of deep introspection and the depths of the dance floor. Kaduwa is his most recent manifestation, born out of his travels around the world. Especially inspired by his time between Los Angeles, Barcelona, and the island Siargao in the Philippines, Free The Robots translates his experiences into electronic, jazz-centric and sample based beats with sublime tinges of psych, rock, house, and hip-hop. For the most part, these compositions are blunted, funky, and psychedelic.

It goes much deeper than that and it comes from the inside. It’s about the way the guitar strings are bent, and the sound gets transmuted directly from a player’s soul. It’s simple at the end of the day. Either you’ve got it, or you don’t. Jared James Nichols has got it. The Wisconsin-born, singer, writer and guitarist’s channels blues grit and gusto through bombastic arena-size rock ‘n’ roll. It’s raw, raucous, and righteously real.
Brooks Nielsen – One Match Left 2xLP (Brooks C. Nielsen)
Uncompromising, enigmatic, and wildly ambitious, Brooks Nielsen (lead singer of Southern California surf-psych icons The Growlers) is proud to announce his first full-length solo album One Match Left: a double-vinyl, twenty-song journey into the heart of darkness, and toward the light that eventually remains. Assembling a core team of himself on guitar and bass, Robert Walter (Roger Waters, The Greyboy Allstars) on keys, and Joey Waronker (Beck, Atoms For Peace) on drums, Andrews infuses the material with a lush palette, more akin to Harry Nilsson and Serge Gainsbourg than anything we’ve heard before from Nielsen.

Considered by many as an underground classic, TFIN boasts a production dream team that includes DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Large Professor, who have yet to appear credited together on the same album since the release of Nas’s Illmatic. Additional producers tapped include JuJu of The Beatnuts, as well as group affiliate Necro, Dave 1 of Chromeo and T-Ray. The album features guest appearances from Necro, MF DOOM, The Beatnuts, Al Tariq, Marley Metal, Stephen Carpenter of Deftones, and Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory.

Ottto – Live Is Gone LP (Org Music)
From the streets of Venice Beach CA, come Ottto, the electric eclectic funk-punk-rock stew who release their first full-length studio album Life Is A Game. Bassist Tye Trujillo, lead vocalist/guitar Bryan Noah Ferretti, and drummer Triko Chavez spill their aggressive groove centric vibe throughout the 10 tracks, Tim Harkins (Korn, Jerry Cantrell) produced album, as Ottto lead the charge on a full-tilt old school giant riff revival with pride and raw, unfettered passion. Double-stuffed with melody, Ottto throw it all down within a potent DIY punk attitude, infused with plenty of alternative chemical imbalance [An indie store exclusive green color vinyl pressing is available.]

Zack Rosen – Syzygy LP (Chimera Music)
Zach Golub Rosen was an exceptional acoustic and electric bass player credited on more than a dozen albums. His songwriting was largely unknown outside a small circle of friends and family. He played about ten Syzygy gigs in small NYC venues, sometimes solo, sometimes with a band that included his friend Connor Grant on guitar. Connor is also a guitarist in Sean Ono Lennon’s band, The GOASTT. In 2018, Zack approached Connor about producing his Syzygy project. They were deep into that project at the time of Zack’s death, by suicide in 2019, at the age of 30, leaving the record to be finished posthumously. Throughout that process, as Connor combed through Zack’s home bedroom recordings, many more songs were unearthed that no one had heard but Zack. “A truly brilliant artist. Zack’s songs are astonishing and original. He had a peculiar, poetic, and playful mind.” – Sean Ono Lennon

Winner of an Oscar for Best Costumes in 1977, the film is one of Fellini’s finest, a grotesque and hyperbolic take on the life of Casanova that is matched by Rota’s compositions.
Sex Pistols – Ever Get The Feeling You’ve Been Cheated?: Live At Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, Ca, 14 Jan 1978 – FM Broadcast LP (Dear Boss)
Pink color vinyl pressing. The Sex Pistols’ 1978 US tour was a complete fiasco. Bassist Sid Vicious was addicted to heroin, and Johnny Rotten was barely speaking with his bandmates. The brief tour wrapped up January 14th at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom. It was the biggest venue of the entire tour, the crowd was mainly hippies, curious to see what all the fuss was about. The band closed with a cover of the Stooges’ “No Fun”. When the song ends Rotten asks the crowd, “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” Then he drops the microphone and walks offstage.
Shabaka – African Culture 12” (Impulse!)
Shabaka Hutchings’ debut release under his own name, Afrikan Culture, was originally released on maroon color vinyl for RSD Black Friday in November 2022. Star Funeral is the full-band solo project of Nikki Esposito. Stepping into the spotlight from behind the bass in Secret Tapes, Esposito adds guitar and lead vocals to her list of duties while drums are handled by Ethan Kreidemaker. Sonically, Star Funeral walks a fine line between pleasant and somber tones- dreamy guitars splash through plodding bass and drums with Esposito’s vocals driving them forward through a flurry of aching longing and regret. This is indie rock at its finest. Silver color vinyl pressing.
Story Of The Year – Tear Me To Pieces LP (Sharptone)
Magenta color vinyl pressing. You didn’t ask, but what’s the sound of Story Of The Year? Loud guitars, massive singalong choruses, and uplifting perseverance.
Sweet Pill – Where The Heart Is LP+MP3 (Topshelf)
2022 release. 180gm red color vinyl pressing. Philadelphia’s Sweet Pill write eruptive emo songs that embrace the edges of pop and hardcore. Stephen Ulrich – Music From This American Life LP (Barbes)
In 2020, Ira Glass’ Pulitzer Prize-winning radio program This American Life commissioned ten pieces from composer Stephen Ulrich to convey the yearning, intrigue, and beauty of the show that has become the benchmark of modern oral storytelling. Unsettling and humorous, shadowy and optimistic, Ulrich’s music weaves a melodic and textural foundation through many episodes of the iconic program. Ulrich, best known for his guitar noir trio Big Lazy as well scores to the HBO series Bored To Death and the Emmy-nominated documentary Art And Craft has made a career of composing music for picture. With a fluid economy and cinematic scale, Music From This American Life tells its own tales in a distinctly American vernacular.
Unearth – The Stings Of Conscience LP (Good Fight Music)
Limited blue, white, and yellow multi color vinyl pressing of the debut album by the Massachusetts metalcore band.
Uni Boys – Do It All Next Week LP (Curation)
With a firmer grasp on the sound they were channeling early on, the band that recorded Do It All Next Week feels baptized in the backroom of Bomp! Records, shaking out their pelvic pulse with bottles of Yellow Pills. The band’s Reza Matin recorded the album in his apartment, ditching their old Tascam for GarageBand and then meticulously mixing it until any wafts of modern technology were whittled away. Like a lost teen b-movie soundtrack to Summer, the band boils the preening, soft punk pout of the L.A. power pop underground into a new generation of singles ready to populate the crates for future diggers. Do It All Next Week is a timeless testament to pining and pacing – songs of love that should have been, songs of love that went sour, songs of love waiting on the dance floor moments from now.
Uzhur – Uzhur LP (Nahal Recordings)
Phases of a journey beyond space-time references, the six tracks of Uzhur’s first eponymous album, summon as many post-apocalyptic visions as there are brains to imagine them – a blackhole where Emptyset, Godflesh, Ben Frost, Khanate and Whitehouse are mixed with a very particular grace, a poetry which takes the time to navigate the extreme and evoke in its turn moments of cinema.
Sharon Van Etten – Tramp [Reissue/2012] LP (Jagjaguwar)
‘Crimson splash’ color vinyl pressing of the third album from the Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter. The shimmering sound of Sharon Van Etten’s 2012 Jagjaguwar debut album, Tramp, both defies and illuminates the unsteadiness of a life in flux. Throughout the 14 months of scattered recording sessions, Van Etten was without a home — crashing with friends and storing her possessions between varied locations. The only constant in Van Etten’s life during this time was spent in Aaron Dessner’s garage studio. Tramp contains as much striking rock (the precise venom of “Serpents”, the overwhelming power of “Ask”), as pious, minimal beauty (the earnest solemnity of “All I Can”, the breathtaking “Kevins”, “Joke Or A Lie”); it can be as emotionally combative (“Give Out”) as it can sultry (“Magic Chords”). Contributions from Matt Barrick (Walkmen), Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), Zach Condon (Beirut), Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), Julianna Barwick, and Dessner himself add a glowing sheen to the already substantial offering.
v i v – Tear Dance 10” (Stereofox LTD)
The music of v i v (they/them) is a shuttle for your mind to a state of complete zen. And Tear Dance is about a personal self-acceptance. A cinematic lo-fi journey. “I want to show that you can turn pain and sadness into something beautiful. After all, isn’t that what life is all about? This is why, most of the songs have a hint of melancholy to them, but are disguised by beautiful, elegant sounds, melodies, and arrangement.” – v i v

After multiple delays, the seven-piece band from Connecticut set out on the road in Fall 2021 for a five-week tour to support their critically acclaimed album, Illusory Walls. They brought with them a documentary filmmaker and audio engineer to capture the adventures. This collection of song features fan favorites from the band’s catalog along with a deep dive into their then-latest studio album.

Caroline Rose – The Art Of Forgetting (New West)
With The Art of Forgetting, Caroline Rose took on the dual role of writer and producer. The album encapsulates the feeling of experiencing recent memories, having them turn into old ones and then ultimately forgetting those memories altogether. There is a romantic nature within the sonic landscape of this record. Tape effects and loops emulate the feeling of aging while the juxtaposition of modern acoustic-electronic textures, like lo-fi tape next to hi-fi granular synths result in some of their most mature and honest work to date.
