Recorded in the Norwegian island of Hadsel shortly after a physical and mental break forced Condon to cancel his 2019 tour, Condon was looking for a place to recover after being left in a state of shock and self-doubt. Working in isolation, Condon explains, “I was lost in a trance, stumbling blindly through my own mental collapse that I had been pushing aside since I was a teenager. It came and rang me like a bell. I was left agonizing over many things past and present while the beauty of nature, the northern lights and fearsome storms played an awesome show around me. The few hours of light would expose the unfathomable be auty of the mountains and the fjords, and the hours – long twilights would fill me with subdued excitement. I’d like to believe that scenery is somehow present in the music.” The resulting is a collection of songs beautifully reflecting that vulnerability, sense of self-determination and belief that after collapse, one can learn to manage on their own again. Todd Snider – Crank It, We’re Doomed CD/2xLP (Aimless)
Todd Snider was amid one of the most creative periods of his career when he recorded Crank It, We’re Doomed in 2007. He was writing at a frenetic pace and experimenting with musical ideas he would develop more fully on later releases. He not only finished and recorded the 15 songs on Crank It that year, but he also wrote and recorded the seven songs that appeared on Shit Sandwich, the digital-only EP released in 2010 by his alter ego Elmo Buzz & The Eastside Bulldogs. The tracks on Shit Sandwich made up the bulk of Snider’s 2016 full-length release, Eastside Bulldog. At some point after Snider decided to put Crank It, We’re Doomed on the shelf, the stereo masters were lost. Over the years, both Snider and McCullough made efforts to locate the masters with no luck. The subject came up again recently when they met to discuss making another record together. After hearing the record for the first time in more than a decade, Snider was no longer bothered by it being “all over the map.” So he shared it with a few friends and advisors, who recognized its historical importance and encouraged him to release it. [An indie store exclusive translucent orange color vinyl pressing is available.]

[An indie store exclusive bone white color vinyl pressing is available.]
Youth Fountain – Together In Lonesome CD/LP (Pure Noise)
Since forming Youth Fountain in 2017, the Vancouver BC-based Tyler Zanon has been a prolific writer, ascending on the shoulders of a cutting, introspective sound Kerrang hailed as “so raw and young that one can’t help but wonder if [Youth Fountain] were peers of Taking Back Sunday and Saves The Day back in the early 2000s.” As he revisited lyric notebooks and hard drives from Youth Fountain early days and previous bands, Zanon amassed a collection of demos he brought to producer Anton DeLost (State Champs, Mayday Parade). Together, the pair worked to transform them into Together In Lonesome standouts – like the skate-punk pit-starting “Clarity”, angular “A Few Notes For Orpheus”, and skyscraping “Twin Flame” – while crafting songs like “Identical Days” and first single “Fallen Short”, the anthemic encapsulation of Youth Fountain’s unbridled, nostalgic blend of emo, pop-punk, and alternative rock, from the ground up. [An indie store exclusive green color vinyl pressing is available.]
Additional Social Media Program Titles:
Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country – Reflector LP (Retrace)
Blue colorway. When people first meet Daniel Donato, they’re not fully braced for this walking tornado of creative energy. “They think there’s something that tips the scale in ways they don’t understand,” says Donato about his over-the-top, slightly manic vibe. “But what actually tips the scale is the amount of thought and analysis I put into my work and art, all of which is taken from the lessons of my life.” Reflector‘s 15 songs offer 66 minutes of ecstatic musical immersion. It’s an album in the classic sense of the word, tracks that are individually memorable but sound even better coming one after the other and make the sum greater than the total of its parts. ”We’re touching on a lot with this record, which is also why there’s so many songs on it,” acknowledges Donato, whose stinging Fender Telecaster tone is the strongest glue of continuity throughout. ”If you’re the kind of person who wants to listen to a record and have a record be a companion with you, then Reflector is going to vibrate in your frequency.”
John Moreland – Live At Third Man Records LP (Third Man)
John Moreland is proud to announce his Live At Third Man Records LP, recorded direct-to-acetate at Third Man Records Nashville’s Blue Room venue on November 12, 2022. Third Man Records’ live direct-to-acetate recordings take place in the Blue Room in Nashville, TN and are cut exclusively on a 1955 Scully lathe that originally came from King Records in Cincinnati. Recorded live in one-shot, with no overdubs, no redo’s, no starting-and-stopping, the process is truly of another time, rendered obsolete by the late 1950s and only available nowadays in TMR’s locations in Detroit and Nashville.
Social Distortion – Mommy’s Little Monster (40th Anniversary) LP (Craft Recordings)

CDs + Vinyl:
Aesop Rock – Integrated Tech Solutions CD/LP (Rhymesayers)
On Integrated Tech Solutions—a concept album about an organization offering “lifestyle – and industry-specific applications designed to curate a desired multi-experience”—Aesop Rock wields insidious corporate-speak as a tool to pry the parasitic business culture away from the parts of life that truly matter, while picking apart the charlatan language. On “Mindful Solutionism”, as the wheel evolves seamlessly into modern agriculture—and then into atomic bombs, cigarettes, and surveillance cameras, Aes sums the spiral up in just a few words: “We cannot be trusted with the stuff that we come up with.” The album sounds like the past and future at once. [A limited-edition white color vinyl pressing is available.]
Aespa – Drama – The 4th Mini Album [Drama Ver.] CD (WB)
Aespa – Drama – The 4th Mini Album [Giant Ver.] CD (WB)

AJR – The Maybe Man CD/LP (Republic)
New full-length album by the indie-pop sibling trio. The three brothers born and raised in New York City – have achieved a startling level of success in a short period of time. From the success of their buoyant electro-pop single “I’m Ready” to runaway smash “Weak,” AJR is making a splash. Raised on the vinyl of the ‘50s and ‘60s, AJR was initially inspired by the likes of The Beach Boys and Frankie Valli, but the sound they’ve created has been favorably compared to a modern mix of those classic sounds, with flavors of Imagine Dragons, fun., and even some hip-hop production elements pointing towards Kanye West. [An indie store exclusive ‘iridescent pearlized’ purple color vinyl pressing is available.]
Asagraum – Veil Of Death, Raptured CD/LP (Edged Circle Prod.)
Third album from the black metal witch’s coven. [A limited-edition gold w/ black color vinyl pressing is available.]
Baby Queen – Quarter Life Crisis CD/LP (Island)
Featuring 12 tracks, including the previously released singles “Dream Girl” and “We Can Be Anything”, Quarter Life Crisis was produced by long-time collaborator, King Ed. There’s a Matt Healy, Billie Eilish and Charli XCX-esque quality to Baby Queen’s thoughtful songwriting. Baby Queen is a deeply personal project for Bella, born out of feeling like a misfit as she tried to fit into London life, pulled into a vacuum of fashion parties and Instagram influencers. Exposure to a world of fake personalities and self-obsession brought her back to her first passion and she felt compelled to write songs about her experiences. [A limited-edition clear purple marble color vinyl pressing with alternate cover art is available.]
Bear’s Den – First Loves & White Magnolias CD/LP (Communion)

Beirut – Hadsel CD/LP/Cassette (Pompeii)
Hadsel is the first new full-length record since Beirut’s 2019 release, Gallipoli. [An indie store exclusive ‘ice breaker’ white color vinyl pressing is available.]
Niecy Blues – Exit Simulation CD/LP (Kranky)
South Carolina singer and producer Niecy Blues describes her songwriting process like an undertow: “I feel a strange pull, and let it carry me, following swirling leaves… whole days roll by, forgetting about the body.” Their full-length debut, Exit Simulation, captures this sense of deep-rooted divination, cycling between simmering ballads, ghosted R&B, downtempo gospel, and looped vocal improvisations-often within the same track. The title is taken from a science fiction novel she read during the purgatory of the pandemic, alluding to a dimensional ideation of departure – “the permission to imagine leaving.” Recorded in her current home of Charleston, she characterizes the album’s mood in terms both reflective and raw: an exploration of things suppressed, foundations beginning to crack, “talking myself off a ledge.”

Carlton Melton – Return To Earth CD/LP (Agitated)
Northern California psychedelic sorcerers Carlton Melton are brain surfers, mind trippers-“psychlists,” if you prefer. The band will take your head for a ride, occasionally rushing at superluminal speeds through a wormhole or gliding softly on a gentle breeze in a leafy glade. Sometimes your brain needs to rage, and sometimes it needs to repose. For a decade and a half, the band has yo-yo’ed, almost schizophrenically, between these two modes: walloping space jams with furious guitar solos in one hemisphere of the brain and ethereal, feather-light splashdowns in the other. Not to mention a track here and there that builds from the latter into the former. [A blue w/ green color vinyl pressing is available.]
Carnal Tomb – Abhorrent Veneration CD/LP (Testimony)
Carnal Tomb – Osseous Sarcophagus CDEP/10” (Testimony)
Carnal Tomb – Embalmed In Decay CD/LP/Cassette (Testimony)
Carnal Tomb is currently one of the most feral underground death metal bands hailing from Berlin, Germany. Their aggressive take on the early stages of death metal blends sheer aggression with morbid melodies, and though we’re talking about classic old school death metal, the band does not limit itself to a certain style or regional sound but creates their own mixture out of classic as well as newer influences of the genre. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available.]
Catatonic Suns – Catatonic Suns CD/LP (Agitated)
Brand new album from young Allentown, PA three-piece Catatonic Suns. Their first for Agitated Records. Catatonic Suns comprises eight songs (seven originals, and an Original Sins cover). Their previous album was an incredible melding of big-sounding US/UK underground sounds, but this album has taken that fire further. The band have developed more of a hi-fidelity psychedelic rock with a shoegazery shimmer akin to the late ’80s/ early ’90s Pacific Northwest sound in cahoots with the UK sound of early ’90s Creation/4AD. For fans of Screaming Trees, Nirvana, The Verve (early), Slowdive, Ride, Alice In Chains. Songs that soar, these new recordings verge on the epic.
Cat Power – Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert CD/2xLP (Domino)
Last November in London, Cat Power took the stage at the Royal Albert Hall and delivered a song-for-song recreation of one of the most fabled and transformative live sets of all time. Held at the Manchester FreeTrade Hall in May 1966—but long known as the Royal Albert Hall Concert due to a mislabeled bootleg—the original performance saw Bob Dylan switching from acoustic to electric midway through the show, drawing ire from an audience of folk purists and forever altering the course of rock ‘n’ roll. In her own rendition of that historic night, the artist otherwise known as Chan Marshall inhabited each song with equal parts conviction and grace and a palpable sense of protectiveness, ultimately transposing the anarchic tension of Dylan’s set with a warm and luminous joy. [An indie store exclusive white color vinyl pressing is available.]
Cave In – Heavy Pendulum: The Singles – Live At BBC’s Maida Vale Studios CD/LP (Relapse)

Chartreuse – Morning Ritual CD/LP (Communion)
On their long-awaited debut album Morning Ritual, Chartreuse has found the light in the darkness, sifting through the ruins of an anxious age to find the hope in it. “There’s a strange optimism in pulling all of your negative traits out, revising and reviewing them, and then putting them back in order,” says Mike Wagstaff, of the band’s intricate, gorgeous songwriting.
Chartreuse resist easy definition.
Come To Grief – Killed By Life CD/LP (Translation Loss)
Come To Grief (featuring members of the legendary Grief) release a remastered collection of out-of-print EPs and singles.
The Counts – What’s Up Front That-Counts CD/LP (Org Music)
In 1971, after dropping “Fabulous” from their moniker, The Counts delivered their first full-length platter for Westbound Records. What’s Up Front That-Counts is indisputably one of the funkiest albums of all time. The conga-led grooves, impassioned vocals and strutting in-the-pocket arrangements are as infectious as they are groovy. The release of this funk classic marks the second installment in Org Music’s Westbound Records reissue series, complete with three previously unissued tracks. [A purple color vinyl pressing is available.]
Drop Nineteens – Hard Light CD/LP (Wharf Cat)
When Drop Nineteens disbanded in the mid- ’90s, singer Greg Ackell decided he would never make music again. He wouldn’t noodle around on a guitar in his basement. He wouldn’t get a group of friends together just to jam. He was done with music entirely. Following the release of the shoegaze masterpiece Delaware in 1992, and the intricate experimentations on National Coma in 1993, the group disbanded. They shared stages with Radiohead, Hole, Blur, PJ Harvey and Smashing Pumpkins. They went from being teenagers in Boston to mid-twenty-somethings with a few MTV videos, a couple BBC sessions and numerous festival appearances under their belt. So when Drop Nineteens ceased to be, Ackell felt content. He had the rest of his life in front of him to figure out what he wanted to do. Music was a closed chapter. That was until 2021, when a friend from the band’s early days got Greg on the phone to suggest making some music together, just to see how it felt. Thus, work on Hard Light began. [A limited-edition light crystal blue color vinyl pressing is available.]

D’Virgilio, Morse & Jennings – Sophomore CD/LP (Inside Out Music)
Three titans of progressive rock, Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train), Neal Morse (Transatlantic, NMB) & Ross Jennings (Haken, Novena) joined forces in 2021 for their Troika album, a record that saw them exploring their love of more acoustic-led music and three-part vocal harmonies. Now the band are extremely pleased to reveal the follow-up, aptly titled Sophomore. The three musicians began trading song ideas in late 2022, before choosing 10 of those to record in January 2023. “I think there was always a plan in the back of everybody’s minds about doing a second one. We just got the conversation started and then started checking out some tunes. There were a lot of songs that were a little less fleshed out than with the first album, but once we got the ball rolling, it kind of went fast”, says Nick D’Virgilio.

Mike Jenkins – The Patience CD/LP (RBC)
Chicago MC Mike Jenkins isn’t afraid to go deep, and his raps often center on the hard work required to become a better, more self-aware man. Patience, he suggests, is the part of your journey where you are no longer in control. Over beats that are jazzy, unhurried, and slightly unsettled, he plays tricky word games as he ruminates on outgrowing old friends and cracks wry half-jokes about peers who only talk about money.
Left Cross – Upon Desecrated Altars CD/LP (Profound Lore)
A cacophonous offering, Upon Desecrated Altars joins grotesque melodies with an inhuman vehemence that forgoes any ambiguity. Amber’s vocals are a fantastic example of that. A more subtle example of growth might be our musical maturity and restraint. Leaving space for the music to breathe. I think that’s the main reason we created this new project, and we are excited to share Reflections with our fans.” – Max Bryk

After hearing the record for the first time in more than a decade, Snider was no longer bothered by it being “all over the map.” So, he shared it with a few friends and advisors, who recognized its historical importance and encouraged him to release it. Sunwatchers – Music Is Victory Over Time CD/LP (Trouble In Mind)
In the decade or so that hard-working New York quartet Sunwatchers has operated, the group has steadily and subtly refined their sound – a brain-blasting mixture of jazz, psychedelia, krautrock, punk, noise, and Saharan blues – into something that is avant-leaning enough to appeal to the discerning jazz and experimental music fan and weird and wooly enough to get the true heads’ toes tapping. Music Is Victory Over Time is the band’s fifth album, seeing the long-running lineup of Peter Kerlin (bass guitar), Jim McHugh (guitars), Jason Robira (drums), and Jeff Tobias (alto saxophone and keyboards) in prime form. [A limited-edition ‘Kool-Aid sunflar’ color vinyl pressing is available.]

Vastum – Inward To Gethsemane CD/LP (20 Buck Spin)
Four years and one pandemic on from Orificial Purge, Vastum offers up its fifth bludgeoning document of psychic malaise and lost faith with Inward To Gethsemane. As before, the abject disgust unsparingly captured in Vastum’s unique approach continues to drape the music with an aura of discomfiting unease. The cavernous density Vastum has made a core element of its discography remains as inhuman as ever, continuing to delve into darker atmospheres, yet never devolving into ambient murk; on the contrary it’s always punishing and with a fearsome momentum. [A limited-edition blood red w/ silver colorway is available.]

Red colorway. Bright Eyes’ A Christmas Album begins with a piano, flute, ambient noise, and musical saw-driven version of “Away In A Manger”, helping weed out casual Christmas music enjoyers, but all too tempting for the most devout of Conor Oberst’s disciples, who originally learned that the warmth of the holiday season is trumped only by it’s potential for melancholy back in 2002 with the original Saddle Creek release.

Dos Senoritas – Classic Banjo Duets LP (Deko Music)
Champion fiddler Aaron Jonah Lewis has been elbow-deep in traditional American fiddle and banjo music since their first lessons at the age of five with Kentucky native Robert Oppelt. Lewis has taken blue ribbons at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV, and at the Old Fiddlers Convention in Galax, VA, the oldest and largest fiddlers convention in the country. This may be the first collection of exclusively classic banjo duets ever recorded, including three pieces by the Mozart of the Banjo himself, Joe Morley, two by another great UK banjo composer, Emile Grimshaw, and a monstrous Grand Polka de Concert by composer, Paul Eno, entitled “Cupid’s Arrow”.
Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show – Alive In America 2xLP (Renaissance)

The Duke – Early Instrumentals LP (Nyege Nyege Tapes)
This 11-track set features some of The Duke’s most arresting hybrid dance music yet, expressing his visionary fusion of contemporary rave sounds, US rap attitude and Tanzanian dance history. While the roots of singeli are in taraab, a popular fusion of East African and Middle Eastern traditional dance rhythms and melodies, Duke steers the sound into a synth-led, syncopated firework display that sounds spry and futuristic.
The Electric Prunes – The Electric Prunes [Reissue/1967] LP (Jackpot)
The Electric Prunes – Underground [Reissue/1967] LP (Jackpot)
The Electric Prunes – Mass In F Minor [Reissue/1967] LP (Jackpot)
Limited-edition color vinyl reissues of the L.A. psych rock band’s first three albums (all originally released in 1967). Formed in 1966, The Electric Prunes had a novel approach to being a band: deciding to be a recording unit rather than a live performance band. They discovered their signature sound-reverb-drenched, beautifully chaotic garage pop-and released one of the most fantastic, fuzzed-out singles of all time, “I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night”. Guitar effects drip and splatter throughout (the band had landed an endorsement deal with Vox, who were the leaders in wild effects pedals at that time), and they laid into the material with brute force (and the occasional gentle touch).
Vincent Neil Emerson – The Golden Crystal Kingdom LP (RCA)
The Golden Crystal Kingdom is the new album from Texas troubadour and singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson. Art Feynman – Be Good The Crazy Boys LP (Western Vinyl)
Green colorway. Until now, Art Feynman – the eccentric alter ego of accomplished producer Luke Temple – has strictly been a solo act, a way for the artist to explore surprising sonic landscapes without the burdens of identity. Slightly twisted takes on Kosmische musik, worldbeat, and art pop can all be found scattered across the Art Feynman discography, but with his new album Be Good The Crazy Boys, Feynman fully immerses himself into pools of collective madness.

Fuel – Something Like Human [Reissue/2000] LP (Wargod)
It’s been over 20 years since Fuel released their double-platinum album, Something Like Human. Despite a Billboard Top 40 hit with “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)”, the album managed to evade a release on vinyl format until 2021, when Wargod teamed up with Fuel and Sony/Epic for first ever vinyl release. Now available to retail on black vinyl the album includes liner notes from founding member and primary songwriter, Carl Bell.
Sam Gendel – Audiobook LP/Cassette (Psychic Hotline)
Audiobook, the new project from multi-instrumentalist Sam Gendel and visual artist/filmmaker Marcella Cytrynowicz, consists of 13 tracks in conversation with 26 corresponding illustrations. Girls Against Boys – House Of GVSB [Reissue/1995] LP (Touch and Go)
Recorded in 1995 at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ, with producer Ted Niceley at the helm, House Of GVSB captures Girls Against Boys at the zenith of their musical prowess. The album has a simmering anxiety throughout, a kind of vertigo, a taste of what the band was experiencing at the time. Released in 1998, on House of GVSB, Girls Against Boys hit their stride.
Girls In Synthesis – Die Leere 12” (Hound Gawd!)
Lauded London-based trio Girls In Synthesis proudly delivers a new stand-alone EP, the superlative Die Leere. Following on from their second LP The Rest Is Distraction, Die Leere sees the band strip back some of the atonal, noisy elements of their sound and replace it with an intense sparseness, glassy clarity, and added melodic touch. The band’s trademark tribal drums and driving bass are still present, alongside warped, deathrock-influenced modulated guitar figures, all adding up to a refreshing update on their truly experimental post-punk.
Robert Glasper – Black Radio III 2xLP (Loma Vista)
Double grape swirl color vinyl pressing. Robert Glasper’s third installment to the Black Radio album series is a cultural moment that celebrates black love and resilience, features an eclectic group of talented collaborators, and is composed by Glasper. The New York Times proclaimed Glasper is “probably the most prominent jazz musician of his generation.”
Goat – Medicine LP (Rocket Recordings)
‘Wavy cap’ colorway. It is hard to know how many times the mythology and mystery of Goat’s backstory can be written about, but new release Medicine does away with any need to dwell on the past, returning with a more introspective, slightly mellower psych-folk sound that remains recognizably them. There is a consistently restrained, warm feel across the whole work, and the band suggest that the overall theme of the album is about “the impermanence of life in different ways: sickness, relationships, love, death and how our time is finite.” At times the album’s sound has nods to classic Swedish ‘70s psych/prog/folk acts such as Arbete & Fritid, Charlie & Esdor and Träd, Gräs & Stenar.
Grateful Dead – Built To Last [Reissue/1989] LP (Grateful Dead/WEA)
Grateful Dead – Without A Net [Reissue/1990] 3xLP (Grateful Dead/WEA)
The Grateful Dead’s final studio album, released in October 1989, contains some of the strongest songs of the later-era Grateful Dead, including “Foolish Heart”, “Standing On The Moon”, and Brent Mydland’s “Blow Away”. The band’s 1990 live album Without A Net is a sonic wonder, filled with some of the best material played by the Dead on the last tours featuring Brent Mydland, who would pass away before the album was completed. Included on the album is a beautiful rendition of “Dear Mr. Fantasy”, a late addition to the tracklist, as a tribute to Brent, to whom the album is dedicated.
Grouplove – Never Trust A Happy Song [Reissue/2011] 2xLP (Atlantic)

Lingua Ignota – Sinner Get Ready [Reissue/2021] 2xLP (Sargent House)
Translucent red colorway. The follow up to her critically acclaimed break out Caligula, Sinner Get Ready is an abrasive, unsettling portrait of devotion and betrayal, judgment and consequence, set in the derelict landscape of rural Pennsylvania, a neglected region deeply embedded with a particular god-fearing brand of Christianity, and where Hayter currently lives. With Sinner Get Ready, Hayter continues to build on the mythology she has created with Caligula and All Bitches Die but renegotiates and dismantles her own aesthetic language. She abandons any previous industrial grandeur and multi-genre approach, instead focusing on creating dissonance with traditional instruments of the Appalachian region, otherworldly vocals and congregational polyphony, subverting American primitive forms with avant-garde techniques and nods to modern composition.

It takes inspiration from various eras – from the smoothness of ‘70s blue-eyed-soul to the romantic energy of early eighties post-disco, locking in with mid- ‘90s hip-hop drum programming and glued down with what has become somewhat of a signature lush Leisure guitar sound heard across their discography.

Tor Lundvall – Last Light [Reissue/2004] LP (Dais)
Originally released as a hand-numbered CD on New Year’s Eve of 2004, Last Light captures Tor Lundvall’s hushed songcraft at its most ghostly and grayscale, stripped bare like branches bracing for winter. Initially conceived of as “a piano album with sparse electronics” (with the working title November), Lundvall’s palette steadily expanded, incorporating synthesizer, samples, bass, metronomes, and his signature spectral vocals. A journal entry from the spring of 2002 proved formative to his evolving vision: “I remember watching the blueish-grey light shimmering outside and hearing distant sounds echoing far away, eventually sinking into silence and stillness.” [Multiple colorways are available.]

The Miracle Workers – Inside Out [Reissue/1985] LP (Jackpot)
When the ’80s U.S. garage / psych explosion started, one record in that genre towered above all others – The Miracle Workers 1985 debut LP Inside Out. Initially formed in 1982, the classic lineup on this debut was a five-headed, five-star beast and one of the most ferocious live bands of the era. With four songwriters, they rarely had to rely on the crutch of cover versions that many of their paisley contemporaries had to lean on. No lazy Pebbles compilation wanna-bees or drippy long-form psych yawns here; just 13 songs that are up there in the pantheon of garage rock (and really any other rock genre). Pressed on limited orange smoke vinyl.
Kevin Morby – More Photographs (A Continuum) LP (Dead Oceans)
Kevin Morby writes (and records, and imagines) at an almost incomparable clip, and his most recent album, This Is A Photograph, studies life, time and mortality through myriad lenses. It’s a dynamic, buoyant record on big, heavy themes, so it only makes sense that Morby found he wasn’t quite done with it on it’s completion. More Photographs (A Continuum) finds new nooks, corners, and vantage points. “If This Is A Photograph is a house that you have been living inside of,” says Morby, “then More Photographs is, perhaps, the same home just experienced differently. As if you, its inhabitant, have taken a tab of something psychedelic and now, suddenly, you’ve replaced your eyeglasses with kaleidoscopes.” Here, Morby returns to his landmark album’s bottomless themes with new wisdom, new imagination, and the winking, looping callbacks that tie his full body of work together in uniquely special ways. [A limited-edition Coke bottle clear colorway is available.]

The first taste came with yet another soundtrack song, “Weird Science”. The danceable electro-pop song charted in the mid- 40s on the Billboard singles chart, which would be their highest charting single release. Continuing to increase their exposure, the band appeared in the 1986 movie Back To School performing the Dead Man’s Party title track, while “No One Lives Forever” was included in the film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs – King Of Cowards LP (Rocket Recordings)
Limited splatter color vinyl pressing. Seven is the magic number. Indeed, not only do psychologists theorize that the human brain can only memorize a sequence of this length, but Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs – the Newcastle-based maximalists whose riffs, raw power and rancor have blazed a trail across the darker quarters of the underground in the last five years – have made a second album in King Of Cowards which does its damnedest to take consciousness to its very limits.

I was left agonizing over many things past and present while the beauty of the nature, the northern lights and fearsome storms played an awesome show around me.
