With this freedom now to lean into the music he wants to put out into the world comes with the pressure of the unknown which fed into his unhealthy strive for perfection. Their musical partnership, known as The Coward Brothers, was initiated by Smiley “Doc” Snipson, who discovered Henry Coward in 1956 and signed him for a UK tour… Their music, from early rock and roll hits to later, more introspective songs, is compiled in the album, The Coward Brothers. It’s hard to pin down Faux Real. The Franco-American duo, comprised of brothers Elliott and Virgile Arndt, have been steadily broadening the scope of their project. BoyWithUke – Burnout CD/LP (Boywithuke LLC)
Burnout is a product of roughly a year of the now 22-year-old BoyWithUke evolving his sound, his live show, and his own work-life balance. Charley Yang has been going through many changes in his life while being BoyWithUke, from getting out of his first long term relationship of 4 years, to getting out of a major label deal. “For the longest time I had made songs to impress this person I was in love with as well as music executives, and once that was gone things felt weird. I felt a little bit lost, but in a larger and more positive way, I felt free with freedom to make mistakes and basically whatever I wanted–I think that’s what Burnout is,” Yang explains. With this freedom now to lean into the music he wants to put out into the world comes with the pressure of the unknown which fed into his unhealthy strive for perfection. But the fact that he’s actually trying is giving him a peace that he hasn’t felt before—a peace he hopes for all of his fans. With that comes Burnout.
Brooks & Dunn – Reboot II CD/2xLP (SME Nashville)
Featuring 18 Brooks & Dunn classics recreated from a blank slate, maximum creative freedom was given to a select group of today’s most engaging artists – not just from country, but from outside the genre as well. Each was given a near-impossible task by Brooks & Dunn themselves: Take an iconic hit and reimagine the song to fit their own taste and style. What came out is not a traditional tribute album – in fact it’s the exact opposite, a clear refusal to put these songs under glass in the museum of country history. Instead, it shows just how alive Brooks & Dunn’s influence is across today’s musical scene… and how versatile their songwriting really was.
Bronski Beat – The Age Of Consent (40th Anniversary Edition) 2xCD/2xLP/5xCD (London)
Synth pop trio Bronski Beat’s 1984 debut The Age of Consent is a rarity in musical history – an album that both defined a generation and challenged the status quo. 40 years later and The Age of Consent remains as prescient and vital as ever as it did on its original release; truly transgressive – defiant, queer, and laden with hooks. To celebrate this important anniversary, London Records revisit the album across a series of formats, uncovering sonic archival gems, new mixes and more.
John Cale – The Academy In Peril [Reissue/1970] CD/LP+MP3 (Domino)
John Cale – Paris 1919 [Reissue/1973] CD/LP+MP3 (Domino)
John Cale was never very kind to his solo debut, Vintage Violence. When it was released in early 1970, Cale had been out of The Velvet Underground for less than two years. He wanted to prove he could be the songwriter, the person penning the words and melodies behind which a band could work. “I was masked on Vintage Violence,” he wrote much later. “You’re not really seeing the personality.” Indeed, Cale’s personality as a polyglot seemingly interested in everything emerged more and more on his next two solo albums, his only two for Reprise: 1972’s bracing and exploratory classical sojourn, The Academy in Peril, and 1973’s masterclass in anxious but accessible songcraft, Paris 1919. By reissuing both records in tandem affirms the artistic fearlessness Cale then fostered at the edge of 30, when all of music seemed like one inviting playpen.

Andrew Gabbard – Ramble & Rave On! CD/LP (Karma Chief)
Andrew’s third solo LP Ramble & Rave On! sounds like the kind of weathered tattoo you’d see etched on a barfly’s forearm as he slams another drink in a dive. Like its title, the record feels like something that’s always been around; a trusty mixtape that everyone can agree on. Andrew comes to this collection of songs with something that very much feels like a ‘studio’ record, the kind of album a ‘60s rock star feels like they’ve built the confidence to make, to shake off a rawness for something fuller and more realized. [A color vinyl pressing is available.]

Xeno & Oaklander – Via Negativa (in The Doorway Light) CD/LP (Dais)
The eighth and latest slate of refined retro-futuristic synth-pop by Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride aka Xeno & Oaklander is named after and inspired by “the study of what not to do, a negative image of a positive, the other side, the other:” Via Negativa (in The Doorway Light). Recorded in the fall of 2023 at their modernist Connecticut home fashioned into a two-story synthesizer laboratory and mixing studio, the album is uniquely visionary in spirit yet precision in execution, a contrast central to the duo’s enduring chemistry. Embryonic piano sketches were translated to nuanced modular systems, which McBride weighted with “harmonic padding,” tuned percussion, and a spectral transfer device capable of “rendering spasms of rhythmic overtonal filigree.” Despite the technological complexity of their craft, emotively the songs require no deciphering – these are technicolor widescreen anthems of the cybernetic age. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available.]

Textural, jazz-like playing complements Coley’s decadent landscapes, which glide by like cigarette-inspired invocations. Earthen Sea – Recollection LP (Kranky)
Jacob Long’s fourth full-length for Kranky began as a notion to reimagine Earthen Sea as a “piano trio,” inspired by a year-long immersion in the ECM label catalog, but the compositions soon grew more complex. Elements were chopped and resampled, then layered with bass, drums, percussion, and additional keys. The result is a fusion of live band acoustics and downtempo loops, sculpted into nine smoke-and-mirror dubs of fractured jazz, soft-focus noir, and trip-hop dust: Recollection.

Souls of Mischief, the Oakland, CA quartet and members of the mighty Hieroglyphics Crew, are proud to announce the first-ever vinyl release of their fifth album Montezuma’s Revenge. Notably, the album’s striking cover featured a fifth member of the group: the legendarily innovative producer Prince Paul, who executive produced the LP, handling most of the beats and overseeing the musical direction of the album from start to finish. Emcees A-Plus, Opio, Phesto, and Tajai take turns showing off the multisyllabic flows, witty similes, and smooth lyrics that have made the crew a household name in rap for over 30 years.
Allen Stone – Allen Stone [Reissue/2012] LP (ATO)
The now-classic second album by Allen Stone, originally self-released then picked up at ATO Records in 2012. The album climbed the R&B charts and vaulted Stone from small clubs to theaters. Featuring the hit “Unaware”.
Leon Thomas – MUTT LP (Motown)
Black ice colorway. From writing and producing on #1 albums – with the likes of SZA, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Kehlani, J. Cole and Rick Ross – to starring on hit television series, Leon Thomas has become a multi-hyphenate talent to watch. MUTT marks the next stage for Thomas, shooting him even further into one of the greats of the R&B genre.
Peter Tosh – Bush Doctor [Reissue/1978] LP (Rhino/Parlophone)
Red colorway. Bush Doctor, released in 1978, is Peter Tosh’s third solo album and his first under the Rolling Stones’ record label. The album features collaborations with notable artists, including Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Known for its fusion of reggae and rock elements, “Bush Doctor” includes tracks like the titular “Bush Doctor” and “(You Gotta Walk) Don’t Look Back,” which gained significant attention. This album continues Tosh’s tradition of addressing social issues while also exploring themes of personal and collective healing through music, establishing him as a versatile and influential artist in the reggae genre.
TV On The Radio – Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes [Reissue/2004] LP (Touch & Go)
This limited edition 20th-anniversary release adds five bonus tracks to the album, including two previously unreleased tracks—neither available in physical format nor on digital service providers: “Dry Drunk Emperor” (a 2005 studio track) and “Final Fantasy” (a 2004 album outtake). Opaque red colorway.
The Unfolding – How To Blow Your Mind And Have A Freakout Party [Reissue/1967] LP (Real Gone Music)
Orange sunshine colorway. How wild did things get in 1967? So wild that a label (Audio Fidelity) not particularly known for its hipness put out a record with an insert to send away for “psychedelic ornaments” so you, too, could throw an acid party! And the back cover offered “instructions” referencing everybody from Emmett Grogan of the Diggers to Albert Hofmann, the discoverer of LSD. But perhaps the most amazing thing about this album was that, despite its almost comical (though well-informed) attempt to cash in on the psychedelic craze, How To Blow Your Mind And Have A Freakout Party wound up being a charming and even entrancing psych-pop gem of a record, albeit one with its requisite share of Eastern-influenced mumbo-jumbo.
Various Artists – D-I-Y: Do-It-Yourself [Reissue/2007] 2xLP (Soul Jazz)
Blue colorway. Out of print for 15 years, Soul Jazz Records’ “Do It Yourself” features a host of post-punk, punk, punk funk/dance and electronic experimentation from UK bands in the late ‘70s and ‘80s that all arrived in the aftermath of punk. As well as loads of great music, the album also charts the rise of the independent music industry in Britain that similarly thrived during this time.
Wax Tailor – Tales Of The Forgotten Melodies [Reissue/2004] 2xLP (Lab’oratoire)
Twenty years after its release, Wax Tailor’s cult album, which made him a household name worldwide, is back in a marbled 2xLP collector’s edition featuring the bonus 7” single “Seize the Day” (previously unreleased on vinyl). Long unavailable due to its success, this eagerly awaited repress offers a chance to rediscover this essential work of the trip-hop scene.

It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
