3TEETH – Endex CD/LP (3Teeth)
In the post-pandemic desolation of Los Angeles, 3TEETH re-materialize as an enigmatic force of cybernetic entropy, unveiling their most incisive revelation of techno-social disintegration ever: Endex. Alexis Mincolla, the cryptic provocateur and his accomplices escalate their own sonic insurgency with the bewildering rupture of the vanguard single, “Merchant Of The Void”. Delving into the commodification of identity, hyper-consumerism, and the primacy of technology as drivers of ideology and human behavior, they lay bare the foundations of our disintegrating reality. The ensuing sonic shockwaves reverberate through drone-guided offensives, such as the explosive “Slum Planet”, “Higher Than Death”, and a phantasmagoric reimagining of Tears For Fears’ seminal “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”. Endex epitomizes 3TEETH’s transmutation of industrial metal into a hyperstitional era, unleashing a memetic plague of esoteric theory-fiction. [A limited-edition red w/ smoke color vinyl pressing is available.]
The Breeders – Last Splash 30th Anniversary Edition CD/LP (4AD)
A defining album of the ‘90s, Last Splash by The Breeders turns 30 this year. To celebrate, the band has returned to the original tapes to give it it’s first-ever remaster, and by doing so have also unearthed two lost tracks, “Go Man Go” and “Divine Mascis” (“Go Man Go” is a track that Kim co-wrote with Black Francis while “Divine Mascis” is a different version of “Divine Hammer” with Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis on lead vocals). Recorded by the ‘classic’ Breeders line-up of Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson and featuring singles “Cannonball” and “Divine Hammer”, Last Splash was “an alt-rock classic” (Pitchfork’s Top 100 Records of 1990s) on release. [The vinyl edition contains an exclusive, one-sided etched 12″. An indie store exclusive pressing is due September 29.]
Cannibal Corpse – Chaos Horrific CD/LP (Metal Blade)
Since 1988, Cannibal Corpse has been at the forefront of death metal, shaping and defining the genre, creating a seminal, incomparable body of work over the following decades. In 2021 they raised the stakes again with their 15th album, Violence Unimagined, growing ever more complex and intense, and in 2023 they return with its successor, the equally monstrous Chaos Horrific, starting a new chapter in their legacy. Written shortly after the conclusion of the Violence Unimagined sessions (due to the pandemic keeping them off tour), echoes of that album exist in Chaos Horrific, but this is a whole new beast of its own. [An indie store exclusive fog color vinyl pressing is available.]
Chai – Chai CD/LP+MP3/Cassette (Sub Pop)
The Japanese band Chai cast a spell on the world in 2017 with their debut album, Pink, a collection of songs that introduced their singular brand of playful pop. The enthusiastically feminist follow-up, Punk, raked in accolades from the music press and fellow artists. That led to Wink, which Chai made via remote Zoom sessions, a limitation that became a strength by allowing Mana (lead vocals and keys), Kana (guitar), Yuna (drums), and Yuuki (bassist-lyricist) to collaborate with artists abroad to create a work that found catharsis in their international community. Unlike Wink, the band’s new self-titled album finds Chai returning to their roots, drawing inspiration from city pop, J-pop, and their Japanese heritage. [A limited-edition pink color vinyl pressing is available.]
Brent Cobb – Southern Star CD/LP (Ol’ Buddy)
New release from Grammy-nominated, critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Brent Cobb. Context from Brent: “You know how when you’re growing up, you’re told that if you ever get lost out there, look for the northern star to help find direction back home? Well, I’m from Georgia. So, I always look for the southern star. This album, the songs, the sounds… it’s all a product of where I’m from both musically and environmentally. Historically and presently that place also happens to be the same place that cultivated many of the most influential artists in the whole world of music. Music as we know it would not exist without the American south. It’s funky and sentimental. It’s simple and complex.” [An indie store exclusive Coke bottle clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Lydia Loveless – Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again CD/LP (Bloodshot)
A follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2020 LP Daughter, Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again continues the evolution of Loveless (she/her/they/them): a fiercely brave writer who bluntly assesses their life in song. Their trademark candidness and razor-sharp wit remain as they lay bare their raw pain—struggles with alcohol and depression, a breakup with their longtime boyfriend, and uncertainty about the future—but here Loveless’ voice is wiser and more controlled. And while she holds onto a vintage country heart and a heartland rock soul, this album also presents something new and matured: a sound akin to Rumors and Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac. [An indie store exclusive silver color vinyl pressing is available.]
Briston Maroney – Ultrapure CD/LP (Atlantic)
Knoxville, Tennessee-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Briston Maroney says a lot with a little. With only a homemade EP and a few singles to his name, Briston has identified himself as a voice for his class of outsiders. His nomadic past is stitched together in songs; in one moment, his guitar tone is drenched in the Florida humidity, and on the next, his harmonies echo through the Laurel Canyon. His passion is always heart-on-sleeve but never off the rails, and on songs like “Freakin’ Out On The Interstate”, he knows how to let the music drive the conversation. [An indie store exclusive olive-green color vinyl pressing is available.]
Buddy and Julie Miller – In The Throes CD/LP (New West)
After forty years of marriage, Buddy and Julie Miller have learned to welcome a song however it arrives, questioning only where the song is taking them rather than where it originated. There’s no process, no assembly-line procedure, just an openness to those bursts of inspiration and those hours of refinement, which means their fourth album together, In The Throes, sounds lively and diverse, eccentric and slightly askew: a deeply soulful collision of mournful gospel, dusty country, cosmic blues, lusty rockabilly, ecstatic R&B, and anything else that crosses their minds. [An indie store exclusive autographed clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Kylie Minogue – Tension CD/LP (BMG)
Kylie’s brand-new studio album, Tension, is comprised of euphoric, empowered dance floor bangers and sultry pop cuts; eleven tracks of unabashed pleasure-seeking, seize-the-moment, joyful pop tunes with the hypnotic electro of “Padam Padam” opening the album. Discussing Tension, Kylie says, “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.” [The deluxe mediabook edition features three bonus tracks. A limited-edition transparent orange color vinyl pressing with exclusive artwork is also available.]
Petey – USA CD/LP (Capitol/UMG)
Acclaimed indie artist Petey releases USA, his first album for Capitol Records. Petey is a one-of-a-kind, multi-hyphenate artist with heart, singular wit, unique vision, and an expansive sonic range. Using a combination of arpeggiated synthesizers, distorted guitars, and shouted vocals, Petey is unflinchingly candid as he examines depression, anxiety, masculinity, and heartbreak.
Slaughter Beach, Dog – Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling CD/LP (Lame-O/Run For Cover)
Slaughter Beach, Dog’s new album Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling finds Jacob Ewald hitting his songwriting stride. A decade into steadily releasing records through Slaughter Beach, Dog and Modern Baseball, Ewald spent hundreds of hours over the past few years to listen purposefully, diving deep into the worlds of Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Neil Young and many other “classic guys” that he hadn’t spent ample time with. Ewald also spent a similar number of hours meticulously assembling a band fit for these new songs. He found what he was looking for. [A limited-edition green color vinyl pressing is available.]
Slayyyter – Starfucker CD/LP (Fader Label)
Slayyyter’s second studio album, Starfucker, sees her delving deeper into her pop stardom with an extravagant Los Angeles starlet persona. The 12-track album is centered on themes of fame, sex, femme fatales and celebrity obsession in Hollywood. Equally as vicious as it is vulnerable, the electrifying production of the concept album is set to elevate her status as a rising pop trailblazer. [A limited-edition transparent mauve color vinyl pressing is available.]
Staind – Confessions Of The Fallen CD/LP (BMG)
Confessions Of The Fallen is the brand new album from radio rock titans Staind. It marks their return as a band after hiatus and is their first studio album in 12 years. The record features ten pummeling rock anthems, including radio smash “Lowest In Me” and brand new single “Here And Now”. Staind was formed in 1995 in their hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. Over the course of their career, the band has released seven studio albums and eight Top 10 singles, selling over 15 million albums worldwide. In 2019 after a five-year hiatus, Staind reunited for some unforgettable festival performances, and a hometown reunion show at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, CT where 2021’s Live: It’s Been Awhile was recorded. [An indie store exclusive orange w/ black & white splatter color vinyl pressing is available.]
Susan Tedeschi – Just Won’t Burn CD/LP (Fantasy)
Susan Tedeschi is a Grammy-winning singer-guitarist and songwriter whose career as a solo artist and co-leader of Tedeschi Trucks Band has established her as one of the significant roots rock musicians of her generation. Hailing from Boston, Tedeschi made her mark on the national stage during the late 1990s with her debut album, Just Won’t Burn, which attained gold status and earned her a nomination for Best New Artist. In 2023, we celebrate the 25th Anniversary Edition of the album that started it all: 1998’s Just Won’t Burn. [A limited-edition 180gm clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Yawning Man – Pot Head [Reissue/2005] CD/LP (Ripple Music)
CD and vinyl reissues of the first album by the SoCal desert/stoner rock band.
Yoke Lore – Toward A Never Ending New Beginning CD/LP (Yell House)
Yoke Lore’s first full length album, Toward A Never Ending New Beginning is set to solidify Adrian Galvin as an indie pioneer, transcending beyond the genre with his unparalleled talent for captivating listeners with his distinct artistic vision and introspective lyricism. The 14-track album chronicles his journey of turning strengths into weaknesses, personal growth, and discovering who Yoke Lore truly is. It’s an album full of reflection and raw, unfiltered honesty that will most definitely connect with listeners on a deeper level. Combining electronic beats with subtle instrumentation, each song on Toward A Never Ending New Beginning is sonically diverse and thoughtfully crafted, taking listeners on a journey of self-discovery along with Galvin.
Jenny Owen Youngs – Avalanche CD/LP (Yep Roc)
Written with a series of friends including S. Carey, Madi Diaz, and Christian Lee Hutson and recorded with producer Josh Kaufmann (Bonny Light Horseman, The Hold Steady), Avalanche is an achingly beautiful exploration of loss, resilience, and growth from an artist who’s experienced more than her fair share of each in recent years. The songs are deceptively serene here, layering Owen Youngs’ infectious pop sensibilities atop lush, dreamy arrangements. [A limited-edition opaque deep purple color vinyl pressing is available.]
Additional Social Media Program Titles:
Föllakzoid – V LP (Sacred Bones)
Föllakzoid grows via depuration, aiming with each record to fill longer spaces of time with fewer and fewer elements. And like the best techno, kraut, and psychedelia have proven throughout time, sometimes the most minimal framework is the strongest container for transcendence. Which is what Föllakzoid have achieved with V, an immersive opus that takes the listener on seductive journey straight to the dance floor. The creative perspective of the band has always been about unlearning the narrative – musical and visual paradigms that shape physical and digital conceptions – to make a time-space metric structure that dissolves both the author and the narrative. As the creative project of queer and trans artist Domingæ, the band has had a unique experience navigating the psychedelic rock scene. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available, including a clear pressing.]
Tom Waits – Swordfishtrombones [Reissue/1983] LP (Island)
Tom Waits – Rain Dogs [Reissue/1985] LP (Island)
Tom Waits – Frank’s Wild Years [Reissue/1987] LP (Island)
180gm vinyl reissues now available. 2023 Marks forty years since Tom Waits released Swordfishtrombones, ushering in a new and critically acclaimed musical era for Waits and his longtime songwriting and production partner, Brennan. Waits went from ‘70’s-era “bluesy, boozy” wordsmith and melodist with seven albums behind him to sound sculptor, miner of the subconscious, abstract orchestrator, sonic cubist—while retaining his innate lyricism, melodic invention, humanity. Rain Dogs is a kind of mutant, late 20th century musical Canterbury Tales with a shape-shifting band. There are banjos and marimbas and bowed saw and parade drum and howling horns (and Keith Richards and Marc Ribot) on this rollicking, rough-hewn opus – and Waits using his voice in increasingly weird-and-wild ways. Franks Wild Years is Tom Waits’ 10th studio album. Titled for a play of the same name and authored by Waits and his wife, Kathleen Brennan, Franks Wild Years was performed by Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 1986. Franks Wild Years is an iteration of the track “Frank’s Wild Years” from Waits’ 1983 album Swordfishtrombones.

Resisting categorization during his steady growth into the spotlight, Bakar offers all the lyrical prowess of a rapper, the virtuosic poise of a producer, and the pop craft of a singer-songwriter. Bakar narrates the universal story of love, and the ever-changing human experience through his music, with Halo being his most captivating work yet. [A limited-edition clear vinyl pressing is available.]
Devendra Banhart – Flying Wig CD/LP+MP3 (Mexican Summer)
Flying Wig is an album of recurrent dualities; a can of paradoxes, a box of worms. The pine-surrounded cabin studio where Banhart was “constantly listening to The Grateful Dead” somehow birthed something slick, city pop-adjacent and eno-esque. It’s the actualization of a “precious friendship” with producer Cate Le Bon – a coming together prophesied by the mirror-image titles of their early solo albums (Banhart’s “Oh Me Oh My” / Le Bon’s “Me Oh My”), a tenderness built on crude haircuts (“we finally met, soon after she was cutting my hair with a fork and that was that”) and home-made tattoos. [An indie store exclusive translucent blue color vinyl pressing is available.]
The Bees – Sunshine Hit Me [Reissue/2002] CD/LP (PIAS America)

Recorded by the ‘classic’ Breeders line-up of Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson and featuring singles “Cannonball” and “Divine Hammer”, Last Splash was “an alt-rock classic” (Pitchfork’s Top 100 Records of 1990s) on release. Will Butler + Sister Squares – Will Butler + Sister Squares CD/LP+MP3 (Merge)
Sister Squares are Sara Dobbs, Miles Francis, Jenny Shore and Julie Shore. What made them a musical unit was working with Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Will Butler. This is their self-titled debut album. The band emerged as collaborators from their origins as Butler’s touring band, first put together to support 2015’s Policy. While considering a solo record, Butler found himself turning to the band for feedback on lyrics and song structures, eventually asking Miles if they’d produce the album. From there, the music flowed. Will Butler + Sister Squares projects widescreen emotional landscapes with a warm, humane soul. “Long Grass” is like a Harry Styles song sung with 20 more years of life behind it, and the back half is a danceable choral record that showcases what Sister Squares bring to Butler’s sound. “It came out uniquely ours,” Miles explains, “a tiny bespoke musical bloom that can never be exactly reproduced. Those kinds of moments between us are embedded all over this album.” [An indie store exclusive blue w/ beige color vinyl pressing is available.]

Drab Majesty – An Object In Motion CDEP/12” (Dais)
The latest EP from Drab Majesty marks the start of a stirring new chapter in the band’s majestic legacy. Written during a 2021 retreat to the remote coastal Oregon town of Yachats, Deb Demure leaned into the neo-psychedelic resonance of a uniquely bowl-shaped 12-string Ovation acoustic/electric guitar. After early morning hikes in the rain, Deb would record ambient guitar experiments the rest of the day, tapping into “flow states,” letting the sound lead the way. These sessions were then refined or recreated, and later elevated further with key collaborations by Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air), and Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Circular Ruin Studio). An Object In Motion is true to its title, capturing the chrysalis moment of an artist evolving, reborn and untethered, silhouetted against an open horizon. [Multiple vinyl colorways are available.]

Anches en Maat is the first new album from Grails in over a half-decade – following the masterful Chalice Hymnal in 2017 – and their first album recorded with all members in the studio together since Doomsdayer’s Holiday in 2008. With every Grails album released since Doomsdayer’s Holiday being a sprawling double-album endeavor, Anches en Maat was conceived as a return to the comparatively efficient single LP runtime. With that, Grails set out to craft the same sonically dense world that their longer albums showcased, while trading singular indulgences for live collaborative interplay.

“Music is about singing, dancing, life, and death. These are the kinds of things I learned from my teacher and mentor, the incredible Ukrainian pianist Mikhail (Misha) Alperin. Misha turned my world upside down from the moment we met. I was 19 then, and he continued to have a huge influence on me ever since. We didn’t see each other very often in later years, but every time we did, I was filled with energy and inspiration. And in every meeting, he said at least one little thing that I would think about for months afterwards, whether it was during a brief conversation in the academy hallway, or a two-hour monologue in his office. He was intense. He celebrated life and love. He was singing, dancing and certainly living through his music. His death has left a void in our world that can never be filled, and he is sorely missed.” – Helge Lien, December 2022

And while she holds onto a vintage country heart and a heartland rock soul, this album also presents something new and matured: a sound akin to Rumors and Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac. [An indie store exclusive silver color vinyl pressing is available.]

Dom Martin – Buried In The Hail CD/LP (Forty Below)
Belfast musician Dom Martin took the UK Blues scene by storm in 2019. His jaw-dropping, natural sounding, and unschooled skill on acoustic guitar, matched with an authentic ‘Belfast Blues’ voice, drew comparisons to John Martyn and Rory Gallagher, with nods to Van Morrison and Foy Vance. In addition to being an acoustic guitar star, Dom is equally adept on electric guitar, showcasing his talents with his power trio. Dom has one a handful of European and UK Blues Music Awards. His sophomore studio album, A Savage Life, received rave reviews with Rock and Blues Muse declaring, “Dom Martin is the next rising star in the global roots scene. Jump aboard now before he passes you by.”
John Metcalfe – Tree CD/LP (Real World)
John Metcalfe – the Durutti Column viola-playing master who for years has been a composer and arranger for the likes of U2, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel, and Blur, as well as co-founder with Tony Wilson of the Factory Classical label – had been composing music spontaneously, instinctively, when the idea of Tree arrived. An album that immerses the listener in twenty-four hours of the life of nature’s most majestic creations, it came from a desire in John to write at scale – perhaps a natural reaction for a composer writing out of the silences and solitude of our recent pandemic years.
Steve Miller – J50: The Evolution Of The Joker 2xCD/3xLP+7” (Capitol)

The Mobile Homes – Tristesse CD/LP (Relapse)
Two years after the last album Trigger, which was praised in unison by both fans and critics, the masters of Swedish melancholic synthpop are now back with the new album Tristesse (French for sorrow). On this album The Mobile Homes refine their established sound to perfection. Every single note feels well balanced and the atmospherically beautiful and whimsical vocal loops crawl under the skin of the listener. To manage to get such a melancholic collection of songs to still feel uplifting and life-affirming is a piece of art in itself. This musical soft plaid will keep you warm during the long, dreary autumn months.

Now with songwriting credits like “Wish You The Best” by Lewis Capaldi and touring slots like the John Mayer Solo Tour under his belt, Saxe returns with a 13 track collection of songs including the singles “I Don’t Miss You”, “Everything Ends”, “Anywhere”, and much more.
Say Zuzu – Every Mile CD/LP (Strolling Bones)
Every Mile was recorded during a particularly tumultuous time in the life of the band, and of the band members. There were record deals won and lost, tours that were equal parts triumph and tragedy, and relationships that bit the dust. And, yet, the band remained hopeful: “we remained friends, and we remained committed to the songs you find here.” Jon Nolan once called this record “pain with a hope chaser,” which about sums it up.

Sincere Engineer – Cheap Grills CD/LP (Hopeless)
Chicago-based indie punk artist, Sincere Engineer, started as a solo acoustic punk act playing dive bars and open mics. Singer, Deanna Belos, decided to forego dental school for punk music, trading in teeth for corn dogs (as referenced in her fan favorite song “Corn Dog Sonnet No. 7”), and touring the world with bands like Hot Mulligan, Alkaline Trio, The Menzingers, and Joyce Manor. In 2020, she released, Bless My Psyche, her sophomore album and debut album on independent label Hopeless Records. Featuring the Sirius XM Faction hit “Trust Me”, the album explored themes of insecurity, failure, and coming of age and was built for gut wrenching sing-a-longs. With Cheap Grills, Sincere Engineer takes a massive leap forward with catchy melodies, witty and sharp lyrics, and the sincerity of a person that wants to do the right thing in a world that doesn’t always reward that. [Two vinyl colorways are available: yellow and indie store exclusive blue.]

Ewald also spent a similar amount of hours meticulously assembling a band fit for these new songs. He found what he was looking for. [A limited-edition green color vinyl pressing is available.]

Andy Taylor – Man’s A Wolf To Man CD/LP (BMG)
Man’s A Wolf To Man is Andy Taylor’s third solo album and his first in 30 years. The record is a pandemic album, and a cancer album, and state-of-the-world album, but still a triumph of joyful, uplifting music. Originally intended for release in 2020, Andy used the opportunities of the Covid lockdowns to re-examine the album and retool it under his own unique circumstances. Then, in 2022 he was given the news that the prostate cancer he had been battling was now terminal and the diagnosis meant he was unable to attend his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of Duran Duran. However, this directly led to a reconciliation between Andy and the band, and he is optimistic that pioneering targeted nuclear therapy will give him longer than he had originally believed. 2023 finds Andy Taylor on top of the world, with a truly fantastic and career-defining solo album, and bridges rebuilt with his old friends and bandmates. The future looks bright, for as long as it can last, whatever length of time that might be. [A limited-edition white color vinyl pressing is available.]

Teenage Fanclub – Nothing Lasts Forever CD/LP+MP3 (Matador)
“Foreign Land” is the opening track on Teenage Fanclub’s 2023 studio album, Nothing Lasts Forever. That track – and the rest of this beautifully rich and melodic album – is the sound of a season’s end, of the last warm days of the year while nights begin to draw in and thoughts become reflective and more than a little melancholy. While the vocals and the finishing touches on Nothing Lasts Forever were recorded at Raymond McGinley’s place in Glasgow, the music was recorded in an intense ten-day period in the bucolic Welsh countryside at Rockfield Studios, near Monmouth, in August 2022. You can hear the effect of that environment on the record – it’s full of soft breeze, wide skies, beauty, and space. [An indie store exclusive silver & black color vinyl pressing is available.]

Underscores – Wallsocket CD/2xLP (Mom + Pop Music)
Wallsocket is a loose concept album about the American town of Wallsocket and the people that live in it. “I first started making music purely on the computer, so my challenge for this album was writing the songs acoustically first and adding production afterwards. A lot of the themes of the project can be summed up by taking something natural and trying to sterilize it. At the time of writing, I was obsessed with using the ‘horseshoe theory’ in an apolitical context. Where in our lives are we so one thing that we wrap back around and become its opposite? That theory is riddled throughout the album.”

After releasing three EPs, they are now gearing up for their debut album Lost In A Rush Of Emptiness, where the band felt free to experiment, always keeping true to their alternative nature. The songs on it are packed with widescreen, dreamy soundscapes that pushed their aesthetics forwards and continued the experimentation that exists at the heart of the project.
Blue Dolphin – Robert’s Lafitte LP (Post Present Medium)
Blue Dolphin was a wild, iridescent punk band from Austin, Texas circa 2016. Over the course of a year, they created a buzzing, liberatory sound, a dark bloodmix of melodic ease and existential gloom. This pairing suggests monuments like ‘Peace?’ or ‘Is This Real?’ but Blue Dolphin found this path all on their own, through trust and reliance that practice space unity that the best bands build simply through the joy of playing with each other. Emboldened by this connection, the band birthed memorably fractured, brisk music full of daring and revelation.

Paul Cherry – Pure Grooves Vol. 1 LP (Born Losers)
“Pure Grooves is the kind of record that nobody asks you to make, and nobody necessarily wants you to make, but is the soul food that I needed to keep going. This album is so many things to me. This record is an homage to my mother who would put on Pat Metheny Group’s Letter From Home every Sunday while cleaning the house when I was a kid. It’s a love letter to my live band and the ability to give them a platform to not just be the backing band for singer/songwriter Paul Cherry. The record is also a f**k-you to the music mindset in the streaming age, and the punk-ness of jazz is that its beauty isn’t tied into its perceived value.

Following the 2022 release of the wildly successful, God Don’t Make Mistakes, Conway the Machine returns with his next studio album, Won’t He Do It. Aptly titled for touching on the various obstacles he’s been faced with and overcome to be in the position he’s in today, Conway hopes to inspire listeners to imagine the possibilities they themselves can achieve by breaking through the walls that have been put up and relentlessly pursuing their goals to turn their dreams into reality. The 14-track album sees appearances by longtime collaborators Westside Gunn & Benny The Butcher, as well as Jae Skeese, Sauce Walka, Juicy J, Fabolous, Dave East, GooseByTheWay, 7xvethegenius, Jozzy, Ransom & Drea D’Nur. Production is handled by heavyweight producers such as J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Khrysis, Daringer, Juicy J & more.
Cri – Miracles 2xLP (Anjunadeep)
Blue w/ pink colorway. Instantly recognizable and infectious productions that light up a room but yet “defy predictable electronic pigeonholing” (Vice); a tall order for any musician, but one that Christophe Dubé, aka Cri, pulls off with a swagger. Miracles showcase Christophe’s signature warming synths, in addition to an impressively wide range of sounds, from drum and bass, to indie, from electronic and chillout, making this work his most expansive to date.
Denzel Curry – 32 Zel [Reissue/2015] 12” (Loma Vista)
Limited neon yellow color vinyl pressing of the double EP from Denzel Curry’s catalog through Loma Vista/Concord. Originally released in 2015, it features the RIAA gold-certified track “Ultimate”.

DJ Znobia – Inventor Vol. 1 LP (Nyege Nyege Tapes)
The first in a four-volume retrospective of Kuduro and tarraxinha pioneer DJ Znobia. Incoming unto the world for a very long time from the musseke of Rangel, home of Casa da Mãe Jú, in the Angolan capital of Luanda, one if not the pivotal visionary of his country’s music electronic and digital modernism – DJ Znobia, o/um/an inventor. Usually considered the first purveyor of the fluency regarding tarraxinha (drinking in its foundational slow shuffle from the city of Benguela), as well as a main player in free thinking, spontaneous, funny, depressive, silly, melancholic, hilarious all-encompassing beats within kuduro, batida, techno and beyond, his influence as a producer, DJ, MC and public figure has had a great imprint in Angolan culture for the better part of the last three decades.
Gareth Donkin – Welcome Home LP (Drink Sum WTR)
Green colorway. Written and recorded in a series of bedroom studios in England and France, London-based Gareth Donkin’s extraordinary debut, Welcome Home, showcases the 23-year-old’s stunning mix of instrumental virtuosity and emotional intuition, blending highly sophisticated melodic and harmonic craftsmanship with deeply moving lyrical explorations of longing, desire, and determination. The songs here draw on soul, funk, pop, yacht rock, hip-hop, jazz, and even bossa nova, hinting at times to everything from Michael Jackson and Bill Evans to George Benson and Jamiroquai, and Donkin’s performances are nothing short of mesmerizing, layering up instrument after instrument in the best one-man-band tradition of Prince or Stevie Wonder. The result is a moving work that’s equal parts brain and brawn, a masterful coming-of-age self-portrait from a young artist discovering himself-and his sound-one song at a time. [CD version due October 6.]
Steve Earle & The Supersuckers – Steve Earle & The Supersuckers [Reissue/1997] 12” (Improved Sequence)
The Steve Earle five-song EP features Earle singing a country version of the Supersuckers’s “Jackalope Pie” and the Supersuckers performing a rock version of Earle’s “Angel Is the Devil”. Both original versions, also included here, are better than the remakes. The artists also team up on the Rolling Stones’ “Before They Make Me Run”. While “Must’ve Been High” gets monotonous at times, the EP at least holds the listener’s interest with its variety of musical styles and Earle’s presence. The Supersuckers prove that they are capable of performing country music, but should stick to what they do best.
Lauren Flax – Liz & Lauren 12” (2MR)
Voted DJ Mag’s Underground Hero in 2022, DJ and producer Lauren Flax has been a fixture in Brooklyn’s electronic scene for two decades. On her latest project Liz & Lauren EP, she teams up with Liz Wight of shoegaze techno duo Pale Blue, whose sultry vocals explore questions of love and isolation to the tune of Detroit house and acidic techno.
Front 242 – Official Version [Reissue/1987] LP (PIAS America)
Vinyl reissue of the Belgian industrial group’s third album.
GIDEÖN – Fridays EP 12” (HOMO-CENTRIC)
The fourth EP from HOMO-CENTRIC Records presents GIDEÖN’s broad musical vision, with tracks that span genres such as house and techno, as well as other influences, and includes his latest offering, “A Road Called Destiny”, his headiest offering yet and hot on the heels of previous anthem “Brighter Day”. This latest gospel belter has been tearing up dancefloors all summer and the track reaches euphoric heights comparable with the Baptist sermons featured in the house classics from the likes of Kerry Chandler and Robert Hood. “Hector’s Revenge” is a dark sleazy queer techno anthem already slaying Berghain’s main floor, “Vasquez Goes East” is a “raw basement cut that tips it’s hat to Junior Vasquez’s Sound Factory classic “Get Your Hands Off My Man” whilst “Fridays” serves up classic Swing 52 style chopped-up vocal cuts straight from vintage 90s NYC. Scope, range and diversity, but all quintessentially GIDEÖN.

His music builds from a deep investment in community, concerning itself with all measures of time at once; his vantage effortlessly weaves through the (sur)real with generous detail and the sensitivity of one who’s lived many times before. It’s hip-hop for now, as informed by the depths of tradition – funk, soul, jazz – and a grand imagination for what’s to come.
Karol G – Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) LP (Bichota/Interscope)
Recently released on CD – now available on clear vinyl. A collection of intimate songs, Karol G’s fourth studio album Mañana Será Bonito (Spanish for Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful) reveals the Latin Grammy Award winning artist beyond her stage name, giving her fans a glimpse of Carolina’s deepest, most vulnerable emotions as she overcame heartbreak. Topping the US Billboard 200 and US Top Latin Albums charts, the production further asserts the Colombian superstar’s versatility as she continues to collaborate with iconic artists like Shakira, Romeo Santos, Sean Paul, and more. Rolling Stone stated, “Karol’s voice is open and warm, blessed with a laid-back purity that is rare in the raucous urbano field. [Like] any global diva worth her salt, Karol engineers the fickle illusion that she’s addressing you, the listener, directly – whether evoking unfulfilled desire for a past lover or compiling a list of future erotic delights.”
Khruangbin / Toro Y Moi – Live At The Fillmore Miami LP (Dead Oceans)
It’s only fitting that Khruangbin’s first-ever official live releases would be albums paired with their tour mates: artists whose music they love and admire, friends who’ve become family along the way. Khruangbin’s series of live LPs traces just one small slice of the band’s flight plan through the years: it’s a taste of some of their most beloved cities, stages and nights. Each release comes with a limited-edition unique album cover exclusive for the recording’s home turf, just a little something extra for the fans that bring a little something extra. Most of all, this series ignites both sides of the band’s magic: the warm, prismatic feeling of their albums and the bewitching energy of their performances.

La Muerte – [PIAS] 40 12” (PIAS America)
It was in Brussels in 1983 that La Muerte was formed. Musically, the group quickly found its place, being quickly compared to Birthday Party or The Stooges. They conveyed a substantial extreme image, four horsemen of the apocalypse, inspired by both the great classics of rock ‘n’ roll and by genre cinema, from Salvator Dali to Kenneth Anger via Blake Edwards. La Muerte quickly became a cult band and a reference of Belgian underground rock.

Mark Thomas Griffin, better known as MC 900 FT Jesus, is an American rapper based in Dallas, Texas. A classically trained musician and trumpeter, Griffin is known for mixing hip hop and jazz. Griffin’s work has often been seen as way ahead of its time with socially responsible lyrics tinged with quirky biting humor. Griffin’s use of rap, electro and cool jazz (he often plays like Miles Davis) is perhaps why his title “Falling Elevators” was chosen to illustrate an ad for the 501 Levi’s brand which achieved great success.

Mouse On Mars – Bilk LP (Sonig)
In spring 1994 Mouse On Mars contributed an exclusive piece to Sähkö Recordings’ ambient radio project, a one-week public radio program that was aired citywide in Helsinki, Finland. Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner recorded sounds in and around their studio in Düsseldorf Bilk to construct one continuous composition that spanned the course of one neighborhood walk. Midi-controlled synths, samplers, analogue effects, tape delays, effect pedals, guitars and a jew’s harp were juxtaposed with recordings captured during the walk. An additional microphone that pointed out of the studio window was occasionally dubbed into the mix. The resulting collage was broadcast just a few months before the group’s debut album Vulvaland came out and never aired again. 30 years into the band’s existence Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner revise the duo’s history by producing three LPs that would place the band’s discography under a slightly different light. Bilk marks the beginning of that investigation: a free-flowing assemblage of everything that vibrates and can be caught on tape. A 30-year-old recording with subtle new edits and additions.
Fabiano do Nasciment – Das Nuvens LP (Leaving)
Los Angeles-based Fabiano Do Nascimento is a multi-string guitarist and songwriter who melds the traditional idioms of his native Brazil (i.e., samba, choro) with the more contemporary and experimental strains of jazz, pop, and electronic music. Das Nuvens (“The Clouds”), is a crisp, frequently blissful, and deceptively groove-oriented showcase from a consummate musician – a rich and varied collection of songs, all of which seem to prioritize, and thrive in, the soft and intentional spaces between notes. Clear apple color-in-color pressing.

Pretenders – Relentless LP (Rhino/Parlophone)
Black vinyl pressing. Arriving with the impulsiveness and attitude that at once defines the band’s eternal spirit, Relentless is a clearly defined snapshot of where the Pretenders are in 2023. It’s the second consecutive Pretenders album to be written as a collaboration between Chrissie Hynde and the band’s resident guitar hero, James Walbourne. Especially sought after in his own right, having recorded with Dave Gahan, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Rails amongst many more. The album’s 12 tracks feature what Chrissie describes as “The Pretenders Collective.” This extended band features Walbourne (guitars), Kris Sonne (drums), Chris Hill (double bass), Dave Page (bass) and Carwyn Ellis (keyboards and guitars). Relentless also features a long hoped-for collaboration with the esteemed composer Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead, The Smile), who provides the string arrangement and conducted the 12 Ensemble for the album’s beautiful closing track, “I Think About You Daily”.
Rancid – Rancid [Reissue/1993] LP (Epitaph)
White w/ black splatter. This is where it all starts. Without any reminiscing about their former band Operation Ivy, Matt Freeman (bass) and Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals) blast through their debut without any hints of ska or blatant Clash plagiarizing. On the contrary, Rancid rips through 15 tracks of high-energy punk that’s accompanied by heavy bass leads and Armstrong’s permanently slurred vocals. And to top it all off, the lyrical content deals with urban blight and the lifestyle of being a public nuisance.

The Wonder Years – The Greatest Generation [Reissue/2013] LP (Hopeless)
Translucent green w/ black splatter colorway. Originally released in 2013, The Greatest Generation, the third full-length from Philadelphia pop punk legends, The Wonder Years, is considered one of the best pop punk albums of all time. Railing against the tired tropes of what elder generations claimed the “millennial” generation looked like – participation trophies, safe spaces, and misguided beliefs that empathy made you weak/infantile, The Greatest Generation, was written with the idea that only we could shape our narrative, define our success and failure, and set our own expectations.
Young Gods – [PIAS] 40 12” (PIAS America)
The Swiss trio The Young Gods were created in 1985 under the leadership of Franz Treichler. Desiring to go against the tide of conventional rock music with a radical aesthetic proposal. The bet had been won right from the outset with the first eponymous album that released the success of being voted record of the year by Melody Maker. It was not until 1992, their album TV Sky, finally achieved an international breakthrough. We must take into account the innovative constancy of the Young Gods and their mastery of the elements.
Zilched – Earthly Delights LP (Young Heavy Souls)
Zilched returns with her sophomore LP, Earthly Delights, a love letter to life and all its innermost complexities. The record, for which she recruited indie-rock auteur Ian Ruhala (HALA) and producer-programmer Ben Collins (Minihorse), is a testament to the maturation of Drallos’ uncompromising creative vision in the years following her last release. Rounding out her gothic pop slanted alt-rock with elements of grunge, Earthly Delights is a dazzling display of poetic lyricism as Zilched weaves an intricate tapestry of romantic imagery, metaphor, and religious allegory that softens the blow of her sometimes brutal honesty.

Chai – Chai (Sub Pop)

The Soulless – The Supreme Resurgence (Flowing Downward)
