An amazing show at an amazing location. The Santa Margarita Ranch dates back two centuries, an antiquated venue not lost on this performer. Will Oldham taps into a sound that pulls more influence from Appalachian old-time tunes than modern folk troubadours. He’s been covered by Johnny Cash , been in one of the best Kanye West videos, and even notched up a New Yorker article. Tickets are on sale at www.folkyeah.com and will be available at the door. Write this date down, and don’t miss this show!!!

Win tickets to see Del this Thursday night at Downtown Brew
Enter to win a pair of tickets to see 90’s Hip-Hop pioneer Del The Funky Homosapien live at Downtown Brew in SLO, this Thursday (10/28) @ 7:30pm. Show is all ages.
A winner will be drawn around 2pm tomorrow. Good luck!
Hailing from Oakland, California, Del and his crew, the Hieroglyphics came out as a markedly non-gansta response to a burgeoning West Coast scene. After being put on at the tender age of 17 by his cousin Ice Cube, Del released two records on Elektra, I Wish My Brother George Was Here (1991) and No Need For Alarm (1993). Despite record sales in the hundreds of thousands, he recorded a third album, Future Development, which was never commercially released.
Del parted with Elektra and started work on the Hieroglyphics family album, 3rd Eye Vision (Hiero Imperium, 1998). Hiero went on the road and toured incessantly in support of the album for much of 1998. Del also spent a good portion of his time drawing, practicing Japanese, and playing mass amounts of video games.
Finally ready to unleash a new record on the world, Del comes with BOTH SIDES OF THE BRAIN. Seventeen tracks of pure Del. He says of his work on this album I’ve had complete control.” At times, Del has felt restrained by the formulas in hip hop and the expectations fans place upon emcees who have had hits. “I wish that I had the same freedom that someone like Bjork has when she puts out an album…” Apart from collaborations with PrincePaul, El-P (Company Flow), and help from a few of his Hiero co-horts (A-plus, Casual, Domino) Del handled the majority of production on this album.
By staying true to himself, Del has earned legions of adoring fans. He may have said it best in his classic, “Mistadobalina” when he declared, “it’s all in the mind and the heart.” Indeed.
CONTEST: Stone Temple Pilots & BRMC at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Wednesday, October 27th!
We’re offering you a mid-week rock out with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS w/ BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB!!
Grammy Award winning rockers Stone Temple Pilots will return to the Santa Barbara Bowl with special guests Black Rebel Motorcycle on Wednesday, October 27th. Stone Temple Pilots dominated the ‘90s from start to finish, racking up 16 Billboard Top Ten Singles and selling more that 40 million albums worldwide. STP’s sustained commercial success earned the band greater critical acclaim with each of their five releases before taking a hiatus in 2001. Despite the presence of the greatest hits album, Thank You in 2003, there was a generation that had never witnessed the live rock power of vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz live in concert, a situation that was remedied as the band announced a long-awaited, highly-anticipated reunion and massive summer tour in 2008. STP is in the driver’s seat for their sixth album, the self-titled Stone Temple Pilots, which was released in May of this year. For the first time in a decade, the band buckled down to handle the production and recording themselves and the result is a highly diverse selection of new music showcasing the band’s incredible chemistry. With Stone Temple Pilots, the band has taken their performance, lyrically and musically, to the next level while giving fans what they love to hear – some good ol’ rock n roll.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) is known for its unique hybrid brand of garage rock, blues and folk and has cemented their sound and style over the course of their five albums; including the critically acclaimed Howl (2005). In March 2010, the band released Beat the Devil’s Tattoo, which broke the top 5 on the US Independent Albums chart.
Don’t miss your chance to rock out with Stone Temple Pilots and special guests Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and more at the Santa Barbara Bowl Wednesday, October 27th. Click continue to enter to win.
