Social Media Program Titles Released This Week:
Nick Hakim – Will This Make Me Good 2xLP (ATO)
While Will This Make Me Good is distinctly Nick Hakim, it does represent a tonal shift from breakthrough release Green Twins (2017) that reflects the ideas with which he grappled with while making the record. The title is a question Hakim has asked himself since he was young and struggling in school; a reflection of what’s happening in his head as he sorts through his life and the tumult around the globe. It articulates a sense of confusion alongside a desire for hope and clarity. [CD edition due May 22.]
Waylon Jennings – The Outlaw Performance: Live At The Grand Ole Opry 1978 DVD (Eagle Rock Entertainment)
In 1978, at the pinnacle of the outlaw movement in country music, Waylon Jennings gave an exclusive performance in Nashville, Tennessee. This performance was taped, capturing Waylon and his band in front of a sold out house. Now this unique concert footage is combined with Waylon’s own words revealing stories, tales and legacy. Bonus features include “Friends Remember The Outlaw”, featuring archival interviews from George Jones, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson & Richie Albright.
Moby – All Visible Objects CD/2xLP (Mute)
Moby’s new dance-heavy album, All Visible Objects, was created in Studio 3 where Pet Sounds was recorded, using the same board that was used in the making of Ziggy Stardust and the same piano that Frank Sinatra used to record some of his most notable hits. Keeping with Moby’s history of donating to charity (in 2018, he started selling off his records and collection of synthesizers and drum machines, donating the proceeds to charity), he is using this album as a sounding board to bring attention to a long list of charities dedicated to preserving our planet and all its inhabitants.
